Looking at the latest Gypsy reviews would have certainly deterred me from purchasing one of my own. Luckily for me, I didn't. Especially since it's been about a week since I received my Gypsy. And can I just say that I absolutely positively LOVE it? My Gypsy is AWESOME! Granted, like other Cricut products, updating is frustrating to say the least. Especially since it often takes so many hours, sometimes days, to get Cricut products to update. Yes, it's a daunting process that will bring one to tears, but once you get it to work the functionality and freedom to create is great! All in all as a newbie to the crafting world, I would highly recommend having a Gypsy to enhance your Cricut experience. A Gypsy is a "must have".

Provo sync fried my Gypsy, 4/3/2012

Have updated a # of times B4, but yesterday while my Gypsy was working fine, I stupidly hooked up to update and was rewarded with a fried and totally useless unit. Any attempts to reformat it via support's instructions proved futile.Clearly this is an issue Provo is aware of, but it's cheaper to replace those under warranty and tell the rest of us to buy a new unit, send it to them with the old one so the new one can be reserialized and returned to you to have you relink your cartridges. Crummy choices.I'm probably thru w/any new Cricut purchases, as their 1-year warranty is far too short, and my unit was destroyed thru no fault of mine.When I ?d support as to wouldn't it be smarter IF I buy another unit to NOT update, she begrudgingly agreed, so you know something's up.

I was so happy to finally get my Gypsy. I have had it for over 2 years now. Could not get it uploaded. Spent HOURS on the phone trying to get it to work. I was told it was software problem, then told it was my virus protection program. My computer keeps questioning why I want to download anything from Provocraft. It does not trust it. Scary!! I have old laptop took of virus program then was able to Sync that was 2 years ago. Tried again but can not repeat my previous success. Someone (not Provo) suggested computer cord might be bad. Bought new one still won't work. I admit I never called back. There is so much I want to do in retirement. Being on the phone for hours to get a piece of crap to work just isn't one of them. I see people use them all the time & love them but I wonder if they are in the minority. Now I am afraid to buy anything else from them. Maybe it will work maybe not. It is a gamble.

NEVER BUY THIS!! I got the gypsy for christmas and it didnt work so I spent an hour on the phone and they said that they would send me another one... I waited for a moth and it never came so I called again. The order had not gone through so they shipped me another one! It came in yesterday... it doesnt work! I am so angry with Provocraft! I dont even want to try again for the third time! I give up!

I got my long awaited Gypsy for Christmas. Unfortunately, after charging for 6 hours, the screen would not work. The blue light comes on, but nothing on the screen. I contacted the store where the product was bought and they referred me to Cricut. I have tried contacting Cricut a few times, but hung up after 30 minutes of waiting on the line. After searching the web, it seems like the problem I have is common. At this point I think I am just going to get a refund.

I received my gypsy for Christmas and have spent the last 2 days trying to sync/update/charge/ and basically just get it to work. I thought the problem was on my end, until I read the 2 most recent reviews and see that the issues I'm having are not unusual. I really hope that Provocraft fixes this bug sooner rather than later...

I got my Gypsy for Christmas and have been able to load half of my cartridges. When trying to load the others I get a message that I need to update the Gypsy. I've done that twice already but still get the same message. Also, my battery will not charge. I've had it plugged in for 6 hours so far and no charge. Can't design anywhere if the battery won't work. I've seen others use these successfully so I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED that mine won't work properly.

Got mine yesterday for Christmas! Have been trying to update it for over 24 hours. It is stuck on the Cricut Imagine update and won't do anything else or finish. Hopefully it will work soon since I watched the A-Z Gypsy video and am really excited to start playing with my new Toy if it ever updates.

Still can't use to full capacity, 12/10/2011

I received my Gypsy the weekend before Thanksgiving and still don't have it synced. Phone calls for technical have taken as long as 97 minutes to 42 minutes. When I finally spoke to someone after the 42 minute wait, I was told there was a problem on Provo's end of the software and that such problems were usually resolved in just a few days and to keep trying. I suggested adding some message to that effect to the website but never saw anything so I keep trying. I keep installing the software, but when I tried to link a cartridge, I keep getting the message that I need to update my Gypsy. So far, I have only been able to link 4 of my cartridges. I've really been looking forward to taking my Gypsy on a long car trip at Christmas but that's beginning to look doubtful. I still have hope but for now I'm a little frustrated.

I've had Gypsy for two years and use it consistently. It's innovative and functional. Love the welding and layering features, and being able to store all my cartridges is a huge plus. I recommend updating often. I have over 45+ cartridges, many of them newer, and Cricut will install new carts automatically for having certain ones. It's an unexpected surprise to see these in my linked cartridges. I thought it was a mistake but was assured it wasn't. I got Smiley Cards free, but I am neither able to use or delete it. It's just there. Cust Rep couldn't remove it either so I was sent April Showers for the trouble. I love my Gypsy!
