Have questions about the Cricut Explore™ system? We have answers!

by Sarah Griffiths | Jan 23, 2014

We’re so happy there’s been so much discussion around Cricut Explore™ and Cricut Design Space™! We’ve been hearing a lot of questions on our Facebook page and the message boards, so we wanted to post the top FAQs in one place. Here they are!

Do I have to pay to use the software or to upload my own images?

Design Space is free to use for all file types. There is no subscription required to cut your own images. Upload and cut your .svg, .dxf, .bmp, .jpg, .png, and .gif files absolutely free. Design with your system fonts absolutely free. Use Cricut Design Space™ for free, and try out any image in your design for free.

This chart can help you choose what’s best for you:

Will my currently owned cartridges work with Cricut Explore™?

Cricut Explore™ was designed to work with Cricut Design Space™, rather than as a stand-alone machine. However, you can use the cartridge port on the Cricut Explore™ machine to link your existing cartridges to your Cricut Design Space™ account.

If you have already linked your existing cartridges to Cricut Craft Room®, they will automatically be available in Cricut Design Space®. There is no need to re-link them. Yay!

What’s the difference between print and cut, print then cut, and write and cut?

There’s been some confusion around these three terms—they’re all so similar! Here’s a quick explanation of these different functions and which of them apply to the Cricut Explore™ machine.

  • Print and cut—This refers to a machine that has a print head and cutting head, allowing it to print out an image and cut it. The Cricut Imagine™ had this functionality. Cricut Explore™ is not able to print and cut.
  • Print then cut—This refers to a machine that is able to take an image printed separately like on a home printer, and then cut out the image using marks that the machine understands. This functionality will be available for current Cricut Explore™ machines in the second half of 2014.
  • Write and cut—This refers to a machine that has a cutting head and a head that can accept a pen to write or draw. Cricut Explore™ has both of these cutting heads side by side, so it can cut and write at the same time, without changing mats.

Why do I have to be connected to the Internet to use Cricut Explore™?

When we were developing Cricut Design Space™, we found that we could create a better user experience by moving to an online, cloud-based platform. Not only does online software allow more functionality within Cricut Design Space™, it also eliminates the need to sync devices and offers access to your images and projects from nearly any connected device (initially PCs, Macs, and iPads).

Are Cricut Explore™ and Cricut Design Space™ compatible with the Cricut Gypsy™ device?

While there is not a direct way to link a Cricut Gypsy™ with Cricut Design Space™, if you have linked your Cricut Gypsy™ device to your Cricut Craft Room® account, the images on your device will also be automatically ready to use in Cricut Design Space™. Instructions on how to link a Cricut Gypsy™ to your Cricut Craft Room® account can be found here.

Why would I want a subscription? What do I get in a subscription?

Our month-to-month subscription is our most affordable way to access content in the market. For $9.99 a month, you get unlimited use of over 25,000 images in the Cricut® library—that’s a fraction of a penny per image! Unfortunately, our licensing agreements don’t allow us to make Disney® or other branded content available in a subscription, which is why the number of images is less than our entire Cricut® Image Library.

What are my options for purchasing or uploading images? Which one is the best?

With the free Cricut Design Space online software, you have quite a few options for using images: Upload and cut your .svg, .dxf, .bmp, .jpg, .png, and .gif files absolutely free. Use your Cricut cartridges that you’ve linked to your Cricut.com account. Buy a single image from the Cricut® Image library. Or try our subscription plans, which give you unlimited use of over 25,000 images in the Cricut® library.

This chart can help you choose what’s best for you:

UPDATE to answer additional questions:

Your cartridges must be linked to your Design Space account to be used. If you purchased previously linked cartridges, they will not be able to be linked to your account.  You do not have to pay $9.99 to use your linked cartridges- you pay $9.99 for access to the Cricut Library that you do not own.

Currently, Cricut Design Space and the ability to cut your own images will only work with Cricut Explore.  It will not currently be backwards compatible, but your current Cricut machines can still use Cricut Craft Room to cut Cricut images. We appreciate your multiple requests about cutting your own images with other Cricut machines, and are looking into that functionality, but cannot give you a timeline for that.

Cricut Craft Room is not disappearing. Again, Cricut Explore will be the only machine that currently works with Cricut Design Space. Your Gypsy device content can be synced with Cricut Explore via Cricut Craft Room through a simple-2 step process. First sync with your Craft Room account and then login Cricut into Design Space with all your entitlements reflected within Cricut Design Space”

You are able to start and stop your $9.99 Cricut Design Space Library subscription at any time.  If you have purchased any images or image packs (starting at $.99) before, during or after your subscription period, those images are yours to keep with your account, regardless of subscription status.

Yes, you must be connected to the Internet to design and cut with Cricut Explore. This was a  decision which allows for ready access to our content library which is being updated regularly. Yes, Explore will cut wirelessly when Bluetooth compatibility is available (date TBD).

Cricut Explore will currently only be available in the US. The International release date will be announced soon.

We will have more informative posts over the next week leading up to our launch with Anna Griffin on HSN!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Answered a lot of questions. Still have one. I may not have  understood. When I download to Design Space, will they be on my computer to use with or without being connected? I think not but am not sure. Thanks again

I have the last SCAL compatible before the greedy PC jack wagons sued and won to prevent everyone from enjoying the use of their own files. I will never buy another Cricut cartridge and I darn sure won't buy a machine made to work with this software. Guess what?? There is the capability to create software that can be used with your existing machines! Both MTC and SCAL provided before the lawsuit. Once my Cricut dies, I will be purchasing a different SVG compatible machine and will steer as far away from any and every PC product. The lawsuits were three years ago and PC is just now coming out with their own options.....if you buy the new machine. Fortunately, I still have the use of my SCAL greedy bastards.

Just had a curious thought........I read somewhere that we can't save files/projects in the new CDS like we do with CCR; does that mean all the free stuff we get through the 3 month subscription will no longer be available to us once the 3 months is up, the only stuff we will actually have is what's already in the CDS?

THIS IS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH CRICUT, SO OF COURSE I DO NOT HAVE CARTRIDGES.  DO I NEED TO BUY ONE TO BE ABLE TO REGISTER?

I really want the Explore, especially with Anna Griffin's blessing, but I have an issue with the PROMISE of a wireless adaptor.  This same PROMISE was made with my Expression2.  I waited and bought the adaptor for $60 when it finally came out.  It never worked even after I spent 2 days between AT&T and Cricut, both blaming each other.  I never got a refund either.  Now they are not making those adapters anymore because Cricut had so much trouble with them according to a Cricut rep.  My desktop computer is in my den.  I do not want to put my Explore there since I have a craft room.  I am back to the same problem I have with Expression 2.  I have to move the machine to another room  EVERY time I want to update or go to the online Craft Room.  I love my carts and Cricuts, but please fix this problem!

If you all would just READ, all of your answers are in the info provided....If you don't like Cricut , then why are you here in the blog....Actually the new explore is probably the best thing for a new Cricut user and they don't have to buy the cartridges, just pay for the use in the subscription, and you don't have to pay for it if you aren't going to craft with the explore that month, just when you want to....as for us old time users, we can pay the fee and have access to new images WHEN we want them or even buy them separately if we choose....Personally I am interested in the intricate cutting ability....I have over 120 cartridges , that was my choice and I am good with it....The only machine that I was disappointed in was the Imagine, I don't use it,  LOVE my Expression 2....I have one thing about this ...I Wish my gypsy could be linked to it, for use away from home, like at a crop...  But BRAVO Provocraft for bringing us this machine.....and for you HATERS....Grow Up !!!!!!...........

can this machine cut fabric... like for appliques on a quilt.

Cricut has brought us a great new machine and I wish all those with negative comments would just stop. If you don't like it don't buy it but quit whining!

Just wondering....the cartridges that I have purchased in digital form for the CCR...will they be linked to Design Space the same as all my regular cartridges that are linked? I really hope you keep CCR. Otherwise, I will not make anymore Provo Craft purchases. I have spent a considerable amount of money the last 7 years and sincerely hope I am not disappointed!

I bought a Cricut Expression a couple of years back.  used it to make a couple of xmas cards war planning to use it to make a cookbook of our favorite family recipes but the machine died after just a few uses but just days past the end of manufacturer's warranty.  I was never able to get any help from PC and found out from reading different blogs that it a very frequent problem with those machines (the display screen blacks out rendering the machine useless).  So I now own a $250 paper weight. So about that new machine?  Count me out!

    Thanks

I have my cartridges linked to gypsy. Will they still sync to the explore
  16. 16 Heather 11 Feb
When I saw the first Cricut infomercial I was enamored!  What a great idea!  How creative I could be!  I wanted one immediately.  I didn't get one (E2) until Nov 2013, three months ago.  I then found out from other scrappers with machines that I wouldn't be able to cut my own images or change the images provided by Cricut.  Disappointing.  Now you have made the software compatible with a machine so I could cut my own images. AND I CAN'T USE IT WITH MY NEW MACHINE.  I won't rant but come on.  Fix it so I can use the Design Space with my E2 or I'm ditching you completely.  I'll sell my E2 and the handful of cartridges (not cheap) and never say a nice word about you again.

I read that the print and cut feature will be available later this year. Is the a guarantee? I definitely want that feature but don't want a promise and not have it happen. Can't wait just a few more days!

I agree TOTALLY with Susy 03 Feb.  I am a retired Great Grand Mother and the Proud owner of 3 Cricut Machines since 2007. But, may not become a Proud Owner of the Explore, its not built for most of us old folks but the younger generations will love it, they stay somewhere online most of time, and what better can they do with their time than making the beautiful Cricut  Projects and Designs. LOL I am happy for them, but PLEASE think of the older generations also. Would appreciate it very much

I JUST bought my cricut, please offer me and others in same situation other alternative than buying a new machine to be able to use new software! Thank You!

I am a loyal Provo Craft person and love my Cricut machine I started with the Personal Cricut then went to the Create now have Expression. I also have a Craft Room account.  I want the Explore and am excited that my cartridges will still be able to be used.  I have a friend who got a Cameo Silhouette and raved about it but I said I would not give up my Cricut.  So glad you have stepped up your game on the Explore.  Plan on buying one.
  21. 21 Ruth 06 Feb
I was reading about the Cricut Explore and it said there was a $99 a year subscription.  What is that.  I thought it was free unless you were buying an image like in the Cricut Craft Room.
  22. 22 Jeri 05 Feb
Will the Design Space software eventually work with the Mini??
  23. 23 ann weedman 04 Feb
When we have print then cut will we be able to color the images
On our carts then print to printer then cut them?
  24. 24 Susy 03 Feb
I would really like to know if the Design Space is usable with the Expression 2 since it has Wifi capability.  That said, will there still be new cartridges that we can use with the older machines? Please keep in mind the loyal customers that have supported Provo Craft to this point (having paid as much as $90 to $100 for cartridges when we could not use coupons at local retailers.)  Please, please do not forget about us.  I have a baby bug and an E2 and still use both of them.  I work on computers and online all day and really don't want to have to come home to go online again with my hobby.  My laptop is old and very slow and new one is not in the budget.  The best part about the older machines is that we could take them anywhere.

Please also keep in mind that there are many senior citizens that have thoroughly enjoyed their Cricuts.  Speaking for my friends, they are not able to go online because they do not have computers or laptops nor can they afford to spend hundreds of dollars to buy one, only to have to then spend more money on internet service which seems to get more expensive every year.  They live on very limited budgets. This is also happening with some of the craft magazines going digital with no more paper copies and no advance notice or choice.  Feels like the older generation is being left behind and Provo Craft may be following in the same footsteps.

I apologize for pouring my heart out but, from the bottom of our hearts, please do not discontinue cartridges for our stand alone machines. And, please reciprocate the loyalty bestowed onto Provo Craft by it's customers through these past financially difficult years by supporting the E2 with the new Design Space and not just for the Explore!  Thank you in advance.

Are you planning to answer any of these questions????

? To Deborah Ziab  I have. Cricut imagine that we are having problems with. How were you able to fix yours?
  27. 27 Cheryl 03 Feb
    Will it cut chipboard?
  28. 28 Serena 02 Feb
I have a few questions some have already been asked but I would like the answer too.
    1.  So is there absolutely no way to use Design Space with out internet.  I have the same problem  I go to a scrap twice a year, they have internet but there are so many people there that it is hard to stay online longer than a few minutes at a time.

    2.  Also I have a Gypsy so we can't connect that?  I usually swap back and forth between my gypsy and CCR, depending on the project I am working on.

    3. The Print then cut feature when it states that "This functionality will be
available for current Cricut Explore™ machines in the second half of
2014"  I just want to make just make sure that the machines sold in February will have an update for this Feature.

Any answers on these questions would be greatly appreciated.

  29. 29 Kathleen 02 Feb
I was wondering if Cricut Imagine cartridges will work in the machine like it does in the Expression 2 machine.
  30. 30 Laurie 01 Feb
Where can you find responses to any of these questions/comments?

Will the Design Space software be compatible with Android tablets now or anytime in the future?

    Thanks!

    When you say:

Does this mean an update will be pushed to the Explore that is about to be released?
  33. 33 Beth 31 Jan
Hey Cricut guys, why not let the rest of us schmucks play with Design Space while we're waiting for the Cricut Explore. It will just make us want the Explore that much more (hint hint). Come on, what's the harm?
  34. 34 Courtney King 30 Jan
Wow! I have the same question! Will CDS work with my E2? I just got the machine! Please, please, please, make the software compatible with my E2 not only for myself but for others as well. I see this as a common request. I posted on the FB page as well. Please followup on this question/request.

Please ANSWER the questions!!!!!! Why put this up if NO ONE is ANSWERING the questions. CUSTOMER SERVICE is MORE important to me than a machine.

Hello, maybe someone already asked, but I didn't found this answer: will the new Cricut Explore be wireless (maybe with an adapter, or better, integrated)? Thank you

Would I be able to use a cake blade in this machine?
  41. 41 DeeAnn 28 Jan
So on the cartridges we have boughten you are saying that we can only link them to the craft room.  What if you bought used cartridges that were already linked by someone else?  That does not seem fair that I can't use my cartridges that I have spent hundredsa of dollars on.  That seems like I am being milked for more money to use the new machine.  Why would I want to spend more money on images to replace the ones I already have and have paid for?  Why can't we put out cartridges in their and use them to cut images?  sheesh even the video game people realize you need to be able to use your old with the new.  come on Cricut really?  that's so unfair to folks.  Maybe I will look into the sillouhette.  maybe that's a better option.
  42. 42 Dorothy 28 Jan
Will craft room now work on an iPad?
  43. 43 Alison 28 Jan
I am super excited about this new Design Space.  I have waited to receive a Cricut for a long time and finally, over Christmas, I was given one--Cricut Expression 2.  I was highly disappointed due to the fact that I had to pay so much money for single cartridges that only had a few images I wanted to use.  A friend of mine has the Cameo and I was extremely impressed with the design software the cameo has along with the fact that she is able to purchase fonts and images for only 99 cents.  Now that Cricut is coming out with something similar, I am so relieved! But, now I'm seeing that the new design space/subscription can only be used with the new Cricut Explore?  I JUST got the Cricut Expression 2, I am not able to buy a new Cricut.  So, can the new Design Space be compatible with the old Cricuts??
  44. 44 Tina 28 Jan
Could we at least cut out images from our Linked Carts offline? I don't think we would need the internet for anything we have linked from our own Cartridges or images we have bought. At least if your at a crop with no internet access you can use your own cart's without having to bring them with you.
  45. 45 Lynda Dexter 28 Jan
I am disappointed that the design space is only available to the new explore I just got my expression for Christmas and can not justify 400 for a new machine. You should make it available for all machines. Or make craft room with similar advatages. I would gladly pay the 9.99 a month to cut the options available but NOOO we are penalized and do not get access  xtra fonts and images instead we have to pay for cartdriges thanks for treating unfairly. may just decide to go to silouette after all.

  46. 46 Zen 28 Jan
Can the Cricut Explore be used to cut wool felt (not craft felt) repeatedly? According to my research, the previous models are okay for felt but only once in a while. Do I need to stick the felt to a board, or use a stiffener?
  47. 47 Diana 27 Jan
I do not want a machine that makes me be connected to the internet in order to use it for cutting.  Please change that.
  48. 48 Ed 27 Jan
Just bought 1 new and two used cricut mini's for family and thought we could cut uploaded designs,But after reading found out we could not.
Was giving two of them as gifts,They would be even better if we could cut are own designs.
Please add cricut mini to Cricut Design Space™.
  49. 49 Hayley 27 Jan
I would have considered buying this machine if there had been an offline capability. Often I go on Scrapbooking retreats that don't have access to wireless so this machine is no more effective than the one I already own. I am kind of disappointed in the fact that Cricut didn't really make an offline application for this. It is great being able to access all the extra content online and create your own images but I would have liked being able to work with this without being connect to the internet.
  50. 50 DWD 27 Jan
I bet Provo would make a lot more money selling the SVG software to all of us with the original, Expression, Expression 2 and Imagine than they would make selling these new machines.  I don't want a machine that only works with internet.  We have a motorhome and I would like to be able to take my Cricut with me and use it on the road.  Internet isn't always available at camp sites or crops.  My home is wireless and to pay $50 for a wireless adapter is crazy!!!  No one is hardwired any more.  Wake up and get with the program!!!

Even though I muddled through all the negative feedback which I feel is unnecessary on an informative blog.  I own 2 E2's, 2 Imagines, a gypsy and even though I am on a tight budget and have 3 more kids to put through college (2 going this year), I will be purchasing the new Explore and it will proudly sit next to my Cameo that I just got for my birthday last fall.  Cricut you have made the world a better place filled with paper dreams that come true. So I thank you.  I still love my Imagine and promise to love all my Cricuts just the same as the new Explore.  Thank you!  And to customer support,  please know that I appreciate the effort you strive for and the smile you share through the phone even though the person before me was less than nice to you.  Thank you for your patience and kindness.

I am excited about purchasing the Explore during the HSN launch in February! I have purchased all of my hardware on HSN launch days. I almost bought a Cameo, but was glad that I held off after I found that the Explore was coming soon. I decided to wait, as I have a lot invested in machines and cartridges.
It really annoys me that so many people give Provo Craft such a bad review. After reading many many posts I found all of the information that I needed on the new machine. I can answer all of the questions that were asked on this page. People need to dig deep and be diligent about finding the information that they seek - it really is not difficult - it is all there - do a little work and find out!
  55. 55 Heidi 25 Jan
My mom had asked me a question and I could not answer it. I'm thinking once the cartridges are loaded onto the library they stay and are always usable. She seems to think once we load the carts in the page and library in order for us to use them you have to be online and that 9.99 fee is for is to use the library that has out carts in. In no certain way would we pay to use our own carts that cost us 40.00 to 60 dollars. I am trying to explain and say its in the library and the 9.99 fee is just to use the library not our carts. Am I right?

From reading, or attempting to read a long write up I have the impression that in order to use our 'own svg files' you have to own the Cricut  Explore?  Really?  After your little stunt of two years ago of almost running two software companies out of business (because WE used svg/mtc files on your precious machines, and not your dedicated images/cutfiles) I refuse to use Cricut Expression.  It's sitting in storage right now in case my trusty Silhouette Cameo decides to quit (but if that happens I will be buying a new one to replace.)  And it takes you guys TWO years or more to decide that SCAL3 and Make the Cut is RIGHT; -- I guess MONEY lost woke your eyes up..  When you apologize to Make the Cut designers and SCAL3 designers, and allow us using your precious machine to cut our own files designed from SCAL3/MTC software, than may-be I'd reconsider to purchase an over priced machine ---NOT!  Thank you for turning the world upside down, AGAIN>

Peoples have any Cricut Machine should have option to be able to use new Cricut Design Space as updated software.   Most peoples have more than one Cricut machine, and  paid lots of money. Provo Craft  should not abandon these older machine user each time lunch the new machine.

Using Cricut Design Space can Print(?) and Cut other type of file, that is what Customer wanted long long time, you should give this feature to every body has Cricut machine.

It will be nice when you lunch the new machine, it should be complete new feature instead add on later, have no idea when.

I like the idea be able to design and cut with ipad, (I don't use laptop as much as use to now), it will be nice with any tablet to cut any of Cricut machine.

I'm hoping that they will expand the Design Space software for older Cricuts, but I know they can't get rid of Craft Room without rendering the Mini obsolete. It requires the software to design and cut. So, they better not get rid of the software or they will lose a lot of business and have a lot of unhappy customers.

Mara Thomas brings up a great point, how will that work? If I pay $9.99 for 'unlimited use' to me that means I would be able to keep those images.  Please clarify.

Also, can someone give details about all the materials the Explore can cut? Specifically what types of fabric? I'd like to use this machine to cut felt.

Please answer our questions!  We all would really appreciate it and it would really help before the launch.

Why is it that we can no longer use SCAL on the cricut.  I bought it before the lawsuit so I'm still using it.  This is just like someone buying a computer and using a game on it they bought somewhere else.  It is so ridiculous.  This is why so many people have went to other machines and why you have lost so many costumers.

I see 47 comments and not 1 answer? I want to know where or when I can get the Design Space and if I can use it with my Expression ll machine. I think some answer's should be given out to all of the above questions. I use the craft room and its free as it should be I'm not going to buy the new machine and pay 9.99 a month that's for sure as I will buy the Silhouette instead.

Why couldn't you have just waited and have everything ready to go with this Cricut Explorer, People have lost trust because of waiting for something for the rest of the goodies to come later and it never happened with previous machines.
I have all of the machines you have ever made including the baby cricut that just had a dial with no numbers and I have taught hundreds of people how to use these machines at my A.C. Moore Arts and crafts store and I have over 250 cartridges  Please don't disappoint us again with promises that will never happen.

    1. If I have wireless in my home can I use the Cricut Explorer?
    2. I go to 9 crops a year and I take my Broadband because some do not have wireless.  Will     the Explorer work with with a broadband?
    3. I have bluetooth on my IPad 2 and my Android.  Will the Explorer work with my bluetooth      or will that be another purchase I will have to make in order to use my IPad?
    4.  I was a Cricut Demonstrator for PC.  Will I be able to demo in my Michaels, JoAnne, A.C.     Moore and Hobby Lobby in Manassas, Va?
    5. Will the Explorer work as a stand-a-lone?

  75. 75 cindy 24 Jan
can i  only cut with the new machine if I'm connected to the internet? what about all the cartridges we have.I do not always have access to a computer. I like my expression. Not sure about this new machine yet.
  76. 76 Alicia 24 Jan
I just bought a expressions 2, will this new feature of cutting my own imagines be available with expressions 2 as well? If I have to buy new machine to have all these features then i will end up going to another company.
  77. 77 Julie 23 Jan
When is Cricut Design Space available to start exploring it?
  78. 78 cricut collector 23 Jan
A family member just got a new Expression 2, and is so excited about using craft room. Just out of the box, and already obsolete! Are you going to close, or quit supporting craft room only 24 hours after she buys a machine to use craft room? And refuse to let her use the new design room?
  79. 79 V xx 23 Jan
Deborah Zlab: You have more Cricut goodies than most of us could ever dream of owning. You don't seem to be in too bad a position to own that many machines. If you can't afford the Explore, don't buy it. Using your disability like that is just poor form.
  80. 80 Vivian Kochis 23 Jan
I am very interested in purchasing the Explore during the HSN launch in February.  I'm concerned with the print then cut feature.  First does that mean I could take a stamped image and the machine will be able the cut it out?  (I've seen this done on Brother's new machine.)   Second, it is stated above that this feature will not be available until later in 2014.  Will an Explore purchased on February 12 be able to execute this feature when it becomes available?
  81. 81 Lisa 23 Jan
Will we be able to use our Expression 2's in the new design room since you will be closing the craft room?
  82. 82 Julie 23 Jan
hi I have a Cricut Expression 2, will it work with this. I hope so because if I have to buy an other machine, i will just cut my loses now and go directly to an other company.
  83. 83 Caroline 23 Jan
I would like to make sure that if I purchase the Cricut Explore from the HSN debut that I will be able to print (from a regular printer) then cut with the Explore machine in the later half of 2014 without purchasing another machine.  And if this is so, how will you make that happen? Purchase an attachment?
  84. 84 Lorena 23 Jan
Can it be use with the gypsy?
  85. 85 Shelley 23 Jan
This sounds very nice. I,too, wish you could have announced that this was coming before Christmas. I have loved my Cricut but my husband went ahead and purchased a Silhouette Cameo for me since I was having issues with my older Expression and using digital content/Cricut Craft Room access with my MAC. Curious about what the pricing is going to be and where it will be available when it comes out besides HSN. Although HSN often has easy-pay, their prices tend to be high.
  86. 86 Sheree Burress 23 Jan
Thank you for answering the questions.  I cannot wait to purchase this machine.  I think the monthly fee is reasonable.  I don't quite understand the "wrath" of some of the comments as I have purchased 4 machines and when I had trouble, customer service was exceptional.  I am glad this machine will have added features....I was under the impression the E2 had added space as well.  I love my E2 and Expression and cannot wait to add this machine to my collection.
  87. 87 Christina 23 Jan
Will the Free use of the files above eventually come to Cricut Craft Room? I have over 400 svg files that currently will not work. Or will the new software be made available for the older machines?
  88. 88 Lu 23 Jan
So you will not be able t use the design space unless you have wifi? So people on the go Without wifi will not be able to create any designs?
  89. 89 Donna 23 Jan
You buy back my $500 imagine and I will consider purchasing your Explore... Burn me once shame on you, burn me twice, shame on me. The only legitimate machine is the original circuit .
  90. 90 Kelly Drinkwater 23 Jan
Debra Zlab.  i think you already have enough machines . how selfish to think you deserve a discount on something because you're disabled. wow!  there are lots of women who would be happy to have just one machine they can afford and you have 7 machines.
  91. 91 Tina M 23 Jan
ok, so.. Craft Room disappears? and if so, when is the last date I can use? Can't use my E2 or Imagine or Gypsy with the new Design Studio? This is getting way too confusing :/
  92. 92 Melissa 23 Jan
I hope you consider making Design Space compatible with us Android users too.
  93. 93 Cristina Alfaro 23 Jan
All I want to know is if the machine is real good at cutting fabric and what type of fabric. And what is the date of the launch in HSN we need the actual date so I can purchase I do not want to miss out I have the expressions 2 and I need to get my hands on this explore. I had the imagine and it was not good so I hope that Thi machine beats them all and does not let me down like the imagine.

There are many options that I do like, however it should have been a teaser during Christmas.  I received an Expression for Christmas as an upgrade from my original.  I don't see any reason to go out and buy a brand new machine when you are essentially upgrading the software used with it.  I love Cricut and I think that there is misguided marketing going on in the Provo Craft company.  You need to make this software backwards compatible to get more people on board!  I can't imagine that I am the only one that feels  like this.

I have a few question what format will our images be saved? Svg or cricut

You posted that not all functions are working yet? This sounds just like the imagine issues and look how that turned out. So why would I want to buy the explore if not all the issue have been worked through. And it would be nice if Provo craft gave us so kind of trade in for our imagine since they never got it working properly to begin. MIne wont even work with the craft room now. Just a waste of my money!!

Since numerous Cricut users own the Expression, an excellent dependable machine, please reconsider and find a way to make Design Space work with the Expression so we would not have to use two different online programs. I would still purchase the new Explore as would many users.

  104. 104 Gina 23 Jan
Would have been nice if this had been launched before or during Christmas.  I purchased an Expression for my sister.  Would have been nice to have gotten her the newest so she could cut svg files etc.  I agree with many comments above and while you are launching a new machine what about the ones that have the machines that just don't work quite right.  Seems PC more interested in getting more money than fixing current issues and then moving forward.  Customer service PC …. think about customer service!
  105. 105 Amy 23 Jan
Please make the design space available to the previous cricut machines...not just the explore!
  106. 106 Therese 23 Jan
The Cricut Design Space software is currently for the Cricut Explore only. The Cricut Mini, Expression and Expression 2 are currently only compatible with Cricut Craft Room. However, linked cartridges are linked to your Cricut.com account. That way both Cricut Design Space and Cricut Craft Room can access the catridges (including digital) that are linked to your account.

If a person owns 300 cartridges and if they have purchased many digital images from Cricut.com, would the subscription for $9.99 be a repeat of what they already own?

Why does PC not understand that not everyone has WiFi? There are many places where people live that do not have WiFi in the area at all. Why can't we have the option to use it as a stand alone? We go to a military campground in Florida for 6 months. There is no WiFi in the campground at all.

Buying images option - you do realize if someone wants an entire cartridge of images in that limited library, it will cost $50. We can buy the cartridges cheaper. The 25,000 images brings a question to mind. PC advertises that each cartridge has over 700 designs. That's not true. They basically have 50 designs that can be cut in 700 sizes.

While I think the new machine has many great qualities that would benefit me greatly with my disabiities, being on military disability, one cannot afford to be thrown under the bus by PC anymore as happened with the Imagine and Gypsy machines. What a terrible shame.  There is no offer by PC for disabled veterans or disabled people to buy the machines at a cheaper cost. Many of the other competitors do offer that if asked. I already have 3 Imagines, 1- Expression ,1- Expression 2 and the faithful Gypsy. Thankfully they all work still. Your geniuses couldn't even figure out what was wrong with the Imagines. We did and we fixed them.

I would like to make a suggestion also. The launch is supposedly going to be next month on HSN. Every single time you guys launch it there, your rep and/or the hostess tells blatant lies about either the machine or offers with the machine. I think you need someone in the upper management to make this presentation because I can guarantee the public is going to catch something. It hasn't failed yet.

Thank you sincerely for reading this.

Also, will there be a cut off on what edition of iPad will work with the system? I believe mine is an IPad2, but they have many versions now. Thank You

So, if I pay the $9.99 a month for say 3 months...I will get unlimited use of 25,000 images from the library(just not licensed images), but on month 4 I can't keep buying my subscription, do I get to "keep" any of those images that I "paid" for during the 3 mo or am I just out limited to the cartridges I own now?? I'm trying to figure out if it's better to buy the ones I really want to use at $.99 ea and "keep" them or do a monthly subscription. I have no intentions of paying for $10 a month for the possibly 6 years that I use the machine like I have used my current machine! And, is their a way to "prove" what images you have purchased in the event of "system failure or glitches?" It's technology...we know those things will happen! Thank You
