Hello Everybody,

I downloaded a trial version of design studio which I thought would help me with making these puzzles. After much troubleshooting, I was finally able to cut out shapes using George. So I decided to purchase DS. Do I really have to wait until I get the disks to unlock the version I have downloaded?

Also I started cutting with heavier paper. I tried using the special blue blade and illustration board. Even with quick speed and high pressure, the pieces are not cut out on the underside. I tried purchasing chipboard, but all of the craft stores and office supply stores have never heard of it.

I can't wait to finally show everybody a puzzle, but it is taking waayy longer that I expected.

My understanding is this:
The CD has the serial number on it you will need that.
Don't load straight from the CD since it will be an older version.
When you have your serial number reopen the trial size you downloaded and follow the instructions there.
Doing it from there should give you the most current download.

Narelle is very helpful with Design Studio questions. She also has a great blog with tutorials on questions and issues that may come up for you.

For chipboard lots of people use cereal boxes but I love Strathmore Watercolor pads for this. (My Expression cuts these for me with one cut if I set the reg. blade to 6 and the pressure to 5. Lots of people use the multi cut feature but if I remember right you have the original bug and I don't think it has the multi cut feature.
Michaels has the pads on sale right now for $4.99 and if you go to their website you can print the 20% off coupon they have and use it on them. (It will work on sale items)They are in the art department. (Joanns has them, too)
Hope this helps!

I too use the water color paper. I love it. Cuts beautifully & really gives a sturdy piece. It takes color great whether you are painting it or just inking the edges for layerin it with cardstock.
