Ok, I have been interested in the Cricut for years and this week I am going to bite the bullet and purchase one.
Ive spent the last week researching crafts and you tube how to's etc...

But the big question...

Which machine should I buy???

Im looking to do a few wall sayings ( nothing huge ), a few mugs with vinyl sayings. Cards etc...
So what would y'all suggest?
And what accessories should I get? Any Specific must have cartridges??

I look forward to your replies!
Im so excited and cant wait to jump in!

i would say if you can afford it go for the expression. I started with the original machine (V1) and updgraded to the expression 10 months later. although you say your looking to make smaller things a lot of the projects you see on here are made with the expression. the smaller machines will limit you to the 6 x 12 mat

I just ordered my Expression tonight from WalMart. The base price was $175 and then goes up as you add options. You get to pick what color you want, purple, green, blue or yellow for free. I got the bright green. You can even have it shipped for free to your local store. It takes 7 - 10 days but its free. Hope this is helpful to you!

Welcome!

I'd say you should get the Expression as well. There is an Expression 2 coming out soon, if you want to wait - but completely understand if you don't want to. Even though you want to do some smaller projects, you have the option to do larger (12x12 and 12x24) projects with the expression as well. As for cartridges, look at what each one does, what it offers. You can find very cheap cartridges on websites - and hardly ever have to pay full price. Michaels and Joann's will also have deals on cartridges as well. I always look at the back and check out the icons. I think about all my "potential" projects I could do with them, and then purchase if it's more than 3-4. At this in point in my life I wouldn't buy a cartridge of just all flowers, but that's not to say in a year I'll think of all the different projects I can do with said flowers. Best of luck and utilize the MB. There are plenty of people here to help you. :)

Good luck!!

Thank you for the replies... I was looking at the expression. HSN has some nice bundles, picking one is gonna be hard.
Any idea as to when the Expression 2 is due to be released? Hate to buy it today and it comes out next week lol.

Also HSN has bundles with pens.. what are they for??

Welcome to the boards.... I would agree with all on the expression. Like most, I started with the smaller one, and upgraded in about a year...BigGrin

As for the Expression 2, I believe it's launch date is April 26 on hsn. Here is the link to circuits video.

The pens are a kind of fun accessory. They are like mini sharpies....you take out the blade housing and replace it with the pen. Then when you "cut" the design, it draws it instead. Check out the marker section of the message board to see what people have done.

Hope that helps...good luck with your decision

Glad to hear you now own a circuit. I too wanted the machine to cut out wall sayings but I have yet to do that. I fell in love Love with card making. My friend is a preschool teacher and used it for many class projects. The cartridges you will want to buy depends on what you will want to cut. There is a library of the cricut cartridges. I just google cricut cartridge library. This will show you the books that come with the cartridges. Hope this helps. Have fun and don't limit the cutting possibilities.
