Im so new to cricut and recently worked on my first project - pop up elmo bday invites for my twins party.

my question is ----- when your working with layers --- for example, elmos eyes, when i hit the button three shapes sppear in design studio - the mouth, the back layer of the eyes and the front layer of the eyes.....if the mouth and the back layer of the eyes require black paper and the front layer of the eyes(circles) require white paper.....is there away to deselect the odd color image so not to waste paper??

Clearly, i dont know what im doing..lol! help!

If I'm understanding your question, I think you can use the hide feature. Place your cursor on what it is you want to hide. If you right click on the object a menu will come up, the same one you use to rename the pages. Click on hide selection and it will change colors and the selection will change to unhide feature. When you cut out your pieces, the hidden selections won't cut.HTH

You don't mention whether you're using Design Studio or the Gypsy. You can only use the Hide Contour feature if you're using one of those.

If you're not, then no, you can't turn off those parts of the layer and you'll need to cut each set out on each colour. Luckily they're usually small and don't use too much cardstock.
