My circuit stops cutting before the design is finished. The screens says press any character...... It just loses the connect. Then the computer tells me it can't find the cricut. It is so frustrating. Generally, I have to turn everything off, shut down Design Studio and start all over again. Has anyone else encountered this problem and how did you fix it?

Yesterday I started having the same problem, only mine is connected to a Gypsy and not Design Studio. (I do have DS, though)... :o( So frustrating, no fix yet, although Mercy is looking into a couple of things.

Hope you get help soon, post back if you do!

You may have to update your firmware and/or delete and reinstall Design Studio. You can do this from the cricut.com website to get the most up-to-date.

FYI - Some have encountered these kinds of problems when trying to cut with a third-party software. Cricut products are made to work with Provo Craft products. Using a third-party software may void your warranty, as well.

I think I've figured it out. The USB cable that came with the Design Stuido does not fit snugly into the computer port. It is very loose. I've tried other USB cables in that port and nothing else is loose. Only the Design Stuido USB. I've contacted Cricut to see if I can get another one. I think that may take care of my problems.

I am having this same problem. My Cricut will be fine and then all of a sudden, Design Studio can't find my Cricut. My USB cable is also very loose. This is the original one that came with either Design Studio or the Cricut; I've had them for so long, I can't remember which. It is extremely frustrating! I LOVE DS and my Cricut; the more I use them, the more I want to use them and the more things I find/see/need to use them for! BigGrin BUT this is completely shutting my productivity down and I use the Cricut/DS for my work. Mad

Add to that the AOL problems this week... technology is letting me down! Glare

You can use any A/B usb cable. I use the one that my printer was connected to my computer with. It now mostly stays plugged into my Cricut and I just unplug it and plug it into my printer if I want to print anything.

I bought an extra long USB cable. That way my Cricut doesn't have to be so close to my computer.

I swapped out cables, used a different USB port and still am having problems. I cannot even update the Firmware. I guess I'll try deleting DS and reinstalling. Does anyone know if this will also delete my saved cut files?

Eme', how is your Cricut doing?

Eme', I found this info on the Design Studio Forum. I followed the suggestions and it got my Cricut running again. (Had to update the firmware again, which I was previously unable to do since my laptop wouldn't recognize my Cricut. This was strange though, since my Cricut had been cutting just fine and then stopped dead in its tracks and the laptop suddenly did not recognize it in the middle of a cut.)

did you download the version from the website?

is your cricut connected directly to the computer and not thru a USB hub?

have you made DS an exception to your windows firewall and virus software?

when you connect your cricut to your computer without DS being open and turn the cricut on does your computer make a sound like new hardware found?

it will not delete your cricut files if you delete from the start menu and not from the add/remove programs
