I don't usually post, read the fourms everyday, but only have posted a couple of times. But I do have a few questions. I brought a Gypsy yesterday at Michaels and not sure if I'm going to keep it or not. I don't do a lot of scrapbooking or card making (I have a E, DS, and a jukebox) just deam about doing a lot.
Is it worth it or should I just use my DS. If I do decide to keep it should I also keep my DS. Can I take my DS off my computer and sell it to someone else?
Can't believe I can't make a decision, I know I want it but do I need it????
HELP

I have had my Gypsy almost a year now. I've had DS longer, but I don't much care for sitting at a computer, so I prefer the Gypsy. Also, my computer and Cricut machines are far from each other so moving them to connect is a hassle. I don't have that problem with the Gypsy, it goes to the machine.

I have all my cartridges linked onto my Gypsy, I have the hand books on my I-Touch. I took my O-Bug, the little 6x12" to school to make some bulletin board cuts. All I had to do was bring the Obug, my Gypsy, Paper cutter and mats to school, all my cartridges were with me through the Gypsy. Way cool.

I have also made designs, welded and cut on my Cricut Cake. The cuts made me look like a fondant expert.

Personally, I like designing and storing on the Gypsy. I like that I don't have to carry cartridges and handbooks around. I say it's worth having. Good Luck with your decision.

DS is hardly ever updated anymore!!!

You will find so much more that you can do with your G.
I love that ALL of my carts are always available, I can design on the go - whenever an idea hits me, even if i ust put in a rough design or title, just so that I remember.

KEEP IT!!!! You will NOT regret it!!!!!

It's worth keeping. I love mine and I was one of those people who didn't think I'd ever buy one. Since you already bought it you might as well play with it but just don't link your cartridges until you are sure you want to keep it.
I have DS also but now with the G I'm not using DS much. I don't think you're going to see new updates for DS. I would consider keeping your DS though as a sort of backup and you can convert files from DS to Gypsy if you have it which might be good if you share files with others. Smile

Thanks for all your answers. I was going to play with it and not link my carts to it until I decided. But I read the Michaels receipt and it said if it was open I couldn't return it, so last night I just watched some videos on youtube. Didn't really watch what I needed. Does anyone have good links to good videos on set up and beginner use?
Thanks again

I bought my G at Michaels and I specifically asked the cashier if I could return it if it was opened and she asked someone on the service desk and they told me "yes". I'm glad I didn't decide to return it because I probably would have had to argue with them. RollEyes

I found these 2 ladies blogs/videos extremely helpful and I'm sure there are others as well:

I never, and I mean "never" use DS anymore! Gypsy is so beyond DS! I have the Gypsy A-Z DVD and it is so very good. Honestly, if you use it, you will learn it and be so glad you did! Good Luck!BigGrin

Definitely keep it!!! i love how I can store all my cartridges on the Gypsy and don't have to unpack all the cartridges and cases to find the one I want. I like how portable it is and we have a cricut at crops and I can cut my design from my Gypsy. I still like Design Studio though, as the images are bigger and I still use it quite a bit, but I have a laptop, so pretty portable too....

Hope this helps.

Have a wonderful day.
