Here are three sketches to give us inspiration to make lovely cards.
Make one, two, or all three. Take a minute and post your creations for all to enjoy.
Extra credit: pull out those cartridges and use one of the cuts you have never used.
Enjoy!

Sketch #1 I used George and Basic Shapes for cutting the circle and rectangles. The butterfly is a layered sticker from a markdown package of butterflies from Jo-Ann Fabrics, but one could use one of the many beautiful cricut butterlies. I embossed the circle and highlighted the embossing with some gold glitter glue. I finished it off with a gold ribbon from my stash and hand wrote the Happy Birthday. (Mercy, I miss my Happy Birthday stickers I used up!)

Sketch #2- This is also an extra credit for I used this tag cut I had never used. I do not think I had ever used that feature on the Sweetheart Cartridge before. I positioned the cardstock so the tag would have the border a the top of the tag. I glued a couple of doves on the bottom of the tag. I added some pearls around the edges. I also made a double banner to add more color and the more layers just seem to add more to a card. I made this for an anniversary card for some friends at church.

Sketch #3 I embossed the circle and used a q-tip to ink the vines and flowers. I added some sparkle with some glitter glue. I hand cut around the circle to place on the card. I embossed the red card stock to make the background paper. I cut out the Victorian kissing couple from the Victorian Romance cartridge (which is one of the cuts that caught my eye and made me want to buy this cartridge) I used some black ribbon from my stash and added some "diamond" jewels to finish off this card. This was also made for an anniversary card for some special friends.

Let me know if the way I posted the sketches work fine for you. If not I can try to figure out another way to post them. They seem fine on my computer and enlarge nicely when I click on the image. This being my first time hosting, I am sure there will be some things I need to learn to make this a pleasant experience for everyone. Looking forward to seeing everyone's creativity.

Great sketches to work with and love the samples...I have that paper too and the colors coordinate so well together. Yours are so beautiful.

Perfect way of posting the sketches...just clicked on them to enlarge them. I always print mine and was able to open them up in my picasa and printed perfectly.

Hi,

I started this card yesterday, but I didn't get it done in time to post before the new challenge started. It's from last week's Sketch #1. I used a Nestie die to cute the opening. The snow flake is from a Die-Namic die set, and the little silver circles on the corner punches are really bead spacers. The Chalkboard paper is a single sheet I bought at Hobby Lobby and the snowflake paper is by Studio Calico. I've had that a while.

My Sketch Card #1:

Circle - Cut in vellum with the Lacy Labels cartridge
Banner - Hand-cut and embossed
Papers - Dk Pink: DCWV "Rustic" stack
Lt Pink: Recollections "Romantic" stack
Embossing - Darice "Flower Swirl" folder
Get Well - CTMH "Sincere Expressions" Occasions Collection stamped with Dew Drops in "Pearlesent Poppy"
Added pearls, white ribbon and misted the circle and banner with Perfect Pearls in "Heirloom Gold".
I used vellum tape to adhere the vellum circle to the card but couldn't get it to stay very well around the edges, soooo, I read the label on my Diamond Glaze bottle and it said it was good to use on vellum. If you notice on the bottom half of the circle, you can see where I used the Diamond Glaze...it was not a good idea.Sad

TurtleBug- Your sketch#1 is GREAT. It turned out very lovely. The embossing really adds a lot to those little rectangles and the banner. The papers you chose works so nicely together. I have not worked with vellum that I recall so I can not be of help in giving any suggestions on how to get it to stick without showing. The Diamond Glaze did not show through much on the photo.

Turtlebug...Your #1 card came out lovely. I really liked the choice of papers you used and the embossing looks good. i couldn't see a problem with the glue on the vellum. I've always heard that vellum is hard to work with...I guess that's why.

Here's my #1 card.

The stamp is one by Delta that i've had for several years.
The papers are by American Craft.
The little red bows came in a package from Holly Lobby.
Banner and doily are Di-namics dies.
I used Swiss dots to emboss the red squares and there's a "touch" of Stickles on the star.

Hello everyone, got back from Colorado Tuesday night. The ride home was much more uneventful then the ride up there was.

Carol, thanks so much for hosting and Dee thanks for the colors, great combo for this time of year.

I am still not feeling very well went to the doctor yesterday because now I have this huge rash or red spots all over my arms and legs. Funny they do not itch but several of them near joint area a painful. Doc put me more antibiotics and a round of prednisone to try and get rid of all these red blotches.
I am hoping to get in my room today and try and get my mind off this stuff and try and get a card made.

DeeScraps-
Very Delightful with Santa peeking through the doily shape. The embossing definitely adds some nice dimension to the card. Great idea of adding a bit of Stickles to make it sparkle!

BingoLady-
Sorry you having computer problems. That is always frustrating. Hopefully everything will be get straightened out soon. In the mean time, just make something lovely with some paper. It is very good therapy!

NanaDonna-
Glad you are back home safely. Sorry to hear you are still suffering physical ailments. Crying Working with some lovely paper will help keep your mind off of the red blotches.Smile I think I need to get in my room and make something with some beautiful paper. I saw a young man sneaking around my neighbor's house this morning and had to call the police. It really gave me a frightScared when I saw him jump the fence and go running through my yard. All has settled down now and it turns out the young man was my neighbor's grandson. A little earlier they had a disagreement with him. I am not sure why he was sneaking around and dumping charcoal behind their shed.Confused Well, if someone saw a person sneaking and peeking around my house I would want them to call the police.ThumpUp So, that is what I did. Yes, I believe I do need some paper therapy!Wink

BingoLady- So glad you got to post your card #1. The scalloped circles are nice and go well with the flowery paper. My eye was really drawn to the red brad or jewel thing in the middle.

LisaW- Nice cards to start off the new challenge. #1 I really like the paper combo on this card. #3 I think maybe some little red flowers at the bottom of the white circle would have added a little extra burst of color and would look very nice. The sentiment was good on both cards. Is it a stamp? I understand how quickly vacations can be over- they seem to fly by quickly. Glad you got to have some paper therapy and got a few cards made.

Perfect day for staying inside crafting in Tucson, AZ today! It has been raining since last night and it is dark and gloomy. We are having the "Annual Tour de Tucson" Bike Race on Saturday. Bikers from all over the world come to race and it is a biggy here. But, with this rain, hoping safe conditions and best for all the Bikers tomorrow.

On to finally posting my comments....

Joyful Carol
#1 - WOW!! Beautiful!! Love every single detail on this card, the green and gold combo looks so elegant. Thanks for the inspiration to make my #1 card.
#2 & Ex. Credit- Very pretty! Love the pearls and Doves at the bottom of the tag and around the whole card. The BG paper is so pretty...another very elegant card!
#3 & Ad Colors - Now, this card reminds me of Colonial parties at mansions back in the day (not that I was thereLOL)!! Love the shilouette and her dress overflowing out of the frame, very well put together card. Great anniversary card!

DeeScraps
Thanks so much for this week's Ad Colors, great color combo for this time of year.
Last week:
#1 - Very nice!! The snowflake looks awesome hanging in midair and really like the papers you picked, great repurposing of the bead spacers. I like when I see unusual embellishments on cards that you never thought you would see on a card!ThumpUp
#1 & Ad Colors - I love this looped die cut, I see it used quite a bit on cards here, will have to add it to my loooooong Christmas Wish List!Laugh Laugh Pretty sentiment font and love the old Santa image. Very nice card!

BingoLady
#1 - Very colorful floral print, like the inked embossing and how the nice "Hello" and flower center brad include all the pattern paper colors. Very nice!

LisaW.
Two very nice cards for your Special Friends...
#1 - Pretty Paisley paper and color combo. Spellbinders sure come in handy when you need a simple cut and don't have to use the Cricut.
#2 - Like this for a male card, have always liked Paisley patterns for guys (like on a tie) and these colors are perfect, too. It looks good as is, but maybe some brads or Skittles added to the border or flower centers. But, you know men, they don't go for all that "foo foo" stuff.Laugh

NanaDonna
Happy you all got home safe and sound and that you are feeling better...see you Saturday!

sincitychix
By all means do join in, we are happy you have decided to share your creations with us!Smile

I am going to participate at my Grandchildren's school Craft Show tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed the rain lets up (even though it will be held in the school Gym), and that we have a big crowd and I sell some of my cards and projects I have made.

My #3 Sketch Card in the Ad Colors and my Extra Credit

Wreath - First time using this cut from my Winter Wonderland cart I bought this month.
Embossing - "Swiss Dots" Cuttlebug folder
Pattern Paper - Last year's from Hobby Lobby single sheet rack.
Added pearls and ribbon I had from last year's Christmas embellishments. I didn't add a sentiment since the background paper is printed all over with "Merry Chrictmas".

Nana Donna....I'm glad you are home safe and sound from your trip, but sorry to hear that you are still having problems. Did the doctor say what might be causing the spots? Does he think it's an allergy or a reaction to another medication? Feel better soon.

Bingo Lady....Sorry to hear that you are having more computer problems. You did a very nice #1 card. The brads really add to the card. That's a very colorful PP and the embossing looks nice.

Joyful Carol....Having been robbed twice, I certainly would call the police if I saw what you did. You just never know.

Lisa Law....Two very nice cards. The paper you used on #1 looks great and it's one I've used before. I really like the coordinating sides. Your #3 card looks fine to me. You might try a flower or a brad at the bottom of the circle and see how it looks. I liked the paper you used.

Sincitychic....Come join us anytime!

Turtlebug....What else have you made to sell? Great BG paper on your #3. That looks like a very nice cartridge. I like your use of the beads.

British Girl....It's nice to see you back. That's a very pretty #3 and ad color card with the bell and bow cut. I like the sentiment and the holly strip.

I finished this card earlier today for my hubby's birthday. The papers are from the Graphic 45, 8x8 paper pack called "A Proper Gentleman." It's from sketch #2.

This is my card for sketch #3. All the elements were scraps sitting on my desk, plus the House Mouse stamp had been colored and just waiting for a sketch to us it on. I think it worked well. I used stickles on the lights, both Diamond Dust and a touch of Yellow. The red striped paper was a border cut from the bottom of the paper used in the background. It's by American Crafts. The doily was also previously cut using a Di-Namic die.

TFL, Dee
