I always go to my scraps before I start to cut a new sheet. I'm always using them, but still seem to have a lot of them. I do cut new sheets and add those scraps to the stash. I have a couple of drawers that are getting pretty much full. It seems most of my scraps are smaller than what I need sometimes too. But I just can't throw them out! I might use them!!! BigGrin

I did some star burst cards a few weeks ago and used all scraps. It was great! Made about 3 and had fun. I'm going to start trying to use some of the pieces in a way that is would use different sizes and shapes of pieces. Have seen a few cards on Pinterest that I could do this with. So, on with my hopeful thinking.

But I do understand the dilemma for sure.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAA!

that is so true.. I am looking down at my pile right now. It is huge. I have a tote that I keep all my non usable scraps in. I keep them all because I am a paper scrap hoarder. Really I am saving them to make my own paper. I want a major amount saved up before I go there though.

So how do you all store them? I file them away but that takes too long. Now I have a big bucket I throw them in but that's too messy.

i do a general sort by color I have one of those 10 drawer carts of the craft store and each color has a bin. and the last one is for ones that don't have a main color. I have my holiday papers (valentines day/wedding, christmas, Thanksgiving and easter) ones in a different place. those are in those 12x12 clear bins that are in the closet so they are easier to find when the holiday comes for making cards. I love to use scraps. (if anyone wants to get rid of theirs I'll gladly take them)

CowgirlUp, you sound so organized! I have some of those 12 x 12 containers and throw them in there. Not the best system since I have to look through all of them when I need a specific color/size. I like your "filing system". May have to start that!

I had to laugh when I read that because my craft room currently looks like a bomb went off. I decided last year that I need to some how at least half way organize my scraps since i was spending more time finding the right scrap then i was actually crafting. I have my solids and patterned scraps separated too. just too keep things easier to find.

I am right there with the rest of you!

I do try to use them, but they never seem to be just the right colors. Then, I go to my stacks and I can never find just the right colors, there either.

I have three drawers that fit anything from scrap to 12X12" sheets (that I pull out and decide not to use and instead of getting them back to their stacks, I put them in my scrap drawers. The three drawers are broken down into EVERYDAY, CHRISTMAS and SHINY! I try to keep the smallest pieces on top and biggest on the bottom but as soon as I get it organized, they are in a disarray the next time I work on a project.

It does seem like I use a lot of those scraps, though.

I cut most of my scraps down to 6x6 and store them in a plastic CD crate you from the Dollar Tree. My bigger scraps like half a 12x12 sheet I store in a legal sized paper tray on my other desk by my cardstock. I don't have a lot of scraps, as I purged a bunch last year and sent it to school with my son. It was hard to let some of it go, but I had to as some I had for years and had not used.
