Hi everyone, VERY new to cricut & just started trying to use my expression.

I would like to cut a pinwheel...doesn't have to be anything fancy. I only have a few cartridges right now & none of them have a pinwheel, but I do have a couple of files in pdf format. Can I convert the file to use with the craft room, or can I found a cut file out there somewhere to use or buy?

Thank you,
Andrea

You won't be able to convert your PDF files to use in CCR as it's a cartridge based program.

However, have you seen the 3D pinwheels digital cartridge? It's $10 (however there are regularly sales on the digital carts if you're not in a hurry - eg. last week all digi carts were 31% off...)

Here's the link to the cart: http://www.cricut.com/Shopping/...3D-Pinwheels-0-1545.aspx

You'll have to use CCR to use that cart however. (Or a Gypsy if you have one... but as you're new to Cricut I'm guessing that's not the case. And now the Gypsy has been discontinued...)

Thanks for your quick response...I understand better now. So is that why they're not making Gypsy anymore...because you can cut other files with it? I know about all the past lawsuits against those other companies, but does anyone ever think that cricut will be anything besides cart based?

I was able to find a few free ccr files when I continued to search...even a pinwheel! So, if I buy that digital pinwheel set for $9.99, it will just always be inside my craft room software? Slowly but surely, I'm learning a bit as I go along.

No - the lawsuit wasn't because of the Gypsy. You can't use other files with it - only cartridges that you own. They are moving towards using the online CCR - so I think that is why the gypsy is being phased out.

I highly doubt the Cricut will ever cut anything but it's own proprietary files.

I doubt the Cricut will ever be changed from a cart based {or digital image sets} cutter. There were lots of {software} cutters on the market when PC came up with the idea for a cart based cutter and it's been quite popular. No reason to change it as long as there are people still buying it.

And, I think once more big copyright owners take action against either the software makers that allow for copyrighted images to be easily infringed on or take action against individual users who are infringing on copyrights, those software programs will change. I've recently read in other groups about individuals who have been given Cease and Desist warnings from Disney and the NCAA for copyright infringement.

Only time will tell!

HELP AGAIN! I used that link in the post to purchase the digital pinwheel cartridge instead of doing it via the Craft Room. Now I can't figure out how to be able to use it after I paid.

HELP!

Regardless of how you got to cricut.com to purchase the digital image, it should be in your My Cartridges list in CCR.
