I am trying to organize my craft area. I seem to have lots of paper. [But to be fair... my 2 kiddos and I all use it so I need a lot, right ;) ]

If you buy a pack of recollections paper... would you take that out and sort by red orange yellow green blue? Or keep it all by package?
I have been keeping it by package but then it looks messy and I am not sure how much of certain colors I have. If I take it out of the packages I am afraid I will not mix and match the papers like I do now because they all seem to match in the packs they come in. Does that make sense?

I have a separate place for my SU! paper that I keep for special projects.

Any thoughts?

TIA

Stephanie

I organize all my papers buy color as it is easier for me to decide what I want to use. I have all of my SU paper there too, but it is marked by dividers (I use cropper hopper paper storage pieces).

I think I was going in the direction of blending them all together. Thanks for the push :) Just what I needed!

I, too, organize my paper by color....in rainbow order. I have R, O, Y, G, B, I, and V in one organizer, and White, Cream, Brown, Gray, and Black in another. My glitter paper is in color order in yet another organizer, and patterned paper in another. This way, with a glance, I can see what color/s I am running low on for when I go shopping. HTH. GG

I used to sort by color, but that didn't last very long. Now when I buy the paper packs, I put them in several plastic organizers. They are just the perfect size. I tend to leave them in the pack so I could see which stack it is when I need more. I have about 5 or 6 of the organizers now!

All good ideas, and I do both!! I have (I think, but I'm too lazy to go upstairs & check!) 15 of the 3-drawer 12 x 12 (Sterlite) plastic drawers that are in 3 stacks of 5 units. For the solid cardstock, I have drawers labeled w/ color - incl things like blue, blue-green, and dark blue - and a set that I put my printed in in according to colors (incl. multi-brights & multi-pastels). But I also have 2 drawers of 'Coordinating papers'for the stacks that have unusual colors; and a couple for Xmas papers & Disney papers, etc. Then the papers that are thematic (like Parties, Camping, School, Beach, etc.) I keep in those 12 x 12 clear 'paper keepers' that close with a snap or tie; those are then kept in 6 of those big fabric 'scrapbook carriers'.
I have other drawer systems for my 8 x 11 papers, and for embellies and tools....
I can't tell you how much I wish I had the time to really just PLAY in there!!

I organize all of my paper by colors but also keep them separated by whether they are plain or patterned paper. This has worked really well for me as I only have to look in one place and not go searching through pkgs. However, I do have a couple of pads I bought (can't remember the brand right now) that I don't store with the colored sections.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I always say try it and if you don't like it, you can always change the method.

I decided to do by color and when I opened all my recollections packs I was shocked at how much paper I had of the same colors.

My SU cardstock is all organized by color. My cheap J's CS is also by color, but not mixed with the SU.

My paper packs are all in a big tub by paper pack. Except for Christmas, it is by itself in another place. However, my tub is overflowing so I may have to re-think my storage! Or use more paper. I suppose use more paper might be the better option, instead of buying more paper! LOL
