After you gently push the mat in until it stops and then press the GO button keep applying pressure gently and it should take it.

LOL , after repeatedly trying to feed the mat in under the roller bar... I figured out it's not like my small Cricut regular cutter and instead you load the mat in above the roller bar! HAHA - it even says "Insert Mat Here!" that's insane!! I fed it in halfway then when I couldn't push it in any further I pushed the GO button and it took my mat.

Mine did that too, when I was first trying to get it calibrated. I tried at least 10 times to get it to load and it wouldn't. I shut it off, turned it back on and tried it... nothing worked. So I called customer service and while I was waiting, I tried it again and it worked. I really don't know what I did differently. Once it took the mat, it's been fine since. I guess my only suggestion is to keep trying and hopefully it will work for you. You might try pushing firmly on the mat too. I hope you can get it to work.
