Hi everyone! I've posted a few of these pages on the other board before, but I am adding some new pages now as well. If you're not familiar with the story, I broke my leg (compound fracture), while camping in August. Making this book has kept me busy during my recovery, and will leave me something to look back on after i'm all healed and good again. BigGrin I will be adding more as I complete them! As requested here is the link to a few of the pictures that are UNDER the covered images: http://s994.photobucket....JulzinLA/Leg%20unedited/

XRay page, before surgery-

I kept the splint that the ranger used originally to stabolize my leg, cut it down to fit the page.

The pictures below are pretty gruesome, I had to put these covers onf or my family members that didn't want to see the blood and stuff. I really like how they turned out like this though! You flip the page up and can see the gross pictres. I will spare you all. Lots of blood and gore. Blushing

Recovery in the hospital-

After surgery Xray, there were 3 Xrays, so I put them on chipboard and kept them behind the original, this way people can see all of the different views-

When they removed the staples-

This is the place where i'm keeping cards that people sent me. I cut a slit over the plastic and slid the cards in through there. That way the rest of the page is protected and people can remove the cards if they want to look at them more.

Oh, I groaned in pain when I saw your first xray. You poor thing.

On the other hand, your book is great!!!

How did you get your xrays? My dad broke his hip almost six weeks ago, and I took pics in the hospital and in rehab (the nurses thought that it was great that I was taking pictures, they said most people don't think about it!) and I will do a little book for him. It would be great to put in xrays. He had three screws put in, the longest was almost six inches!

Yikes! I hope your dad feels better!! the first xray my bf took a picture of it for me with the cell phone. The other three, the dr. who discharged me asked if I wanted print outs. He thought it was hilarious we were taking pictures of everything. I had to tell him i'm an avid scrapbooker. I even had the gypsy in the hospital designing LOL Hey I was there for four days, had to keep busy during the time I was asleep! BigGrin Post your book when its done i'd love to see it!

Poor thing, I was a re-hab nurse and I saw a lot of this so it did not bother me to see the gore....lol LOL LOL LOL I worked with spinal cord injuries and halo casts so this brought back a lot of memories for me. My favorite part was taking out the staples...I drew a Frankinstein face on one of my patients leg and he laughed and left it on there till he went home. The way the Ortho-guy stapled him it look like a face and neck....but get well listen to what your body tells you and don't over do it.....maile

Ferris Buellar is the best movie ever! My best friend and I used to watch it every day after school when we were younger, and still get together to watch it once in a while. She sent me that card, and knew it would cheer me up, which it did!

Maile,
that is so cool! I would have let them draw a frankenstein on mine. I'm already thinking of cool halloween ideas for it. LOL. That is assuming I will be able to walk on my own by then. I am using a walker/wheelchair right now, and in a few weeks will find out if I can at least trade to a cane. The little machine they used to take out the staples was the coolest thing. I kept thinking how I could use it for crafting LOL!

Hope your daughter is recovering from the hand surgery! You really don't realize how much you use something until you can't use it. I am so glad I can scoot around on the walker, but i'm ready to walk!

You asked for it, be warned, LOL! Here's the link to a few of those images:

Just in case you are interested I used Karen foster brand paper, all of it, the xray, the bandage, the dr. visit, there was more but my local scrapbook store didn't have them in stock. I got them at an actual scrapbook store not J's or M's.. no luck there. :)

That is one of the reasons that I had to cover them. Some of my family members are squemish (sp?), when it comes to blood and they refuse to look at those LOL. Flapper

Hope you get to feeling better. I could not resist looking at your post. My DGS broke his right leg (at the ankle) the end of may. He had a metal plate and 9 screws in his leg. They took out 2 screws after 3 months. He was non-weight bearing for those 3 months! He still limps when he walks. He is 18 yo.

Then on Father's day my DS was playing baskeball and tore his patella tendon. His kneecap ended up on his thigh!
He required surgery to reattach his kneecap to the tendon. He was non-weight bearing for 8 weeks! He is still has a very bad limp. He is 31 yo.

After seeing what they both went through I can certainly understand what your going through.

We also took pictures of the xrays. Now we have an idea of how to scrapbook all the pictures we took.
Hope you don't mind if we scraplift some of these.

Best of luck to you.

Oh no! When I read about the injuries in your family, I got complete sympathy pains. I can't even watch people on tv who break a leg, or even seem like they will (wipeout crazy show!). Luckily it is healing nicely, and I find out next week what my next step is. Hopefully its an upgrade to a cane instead of the walker! Best of luck to your DGS and your DS! Feel free to scraplift any of the ideas! BigGrin
