Okay I have been playing with the Cricut for Beginners lesson 2 since yesterday. Now that I finall got cricut sync on the computer it won't let me cut. I have the gypsy mat up and the purse I want to cut but when I try to cut it says I don't have the right to use. It says load the images to gypsy. If the purse project is added to my project folder shouldn't it just cut? What do I need to do now? Thanks so much!

yes it does get easier!!

looking at your gypsy screen (the cricut mat)
click the keypad icon in the bottom right corner
click the cart name in the bottom left corner
click the drop down arrow at the top of the screen
click the arrow and click "this project"
what cartridge is listed?

do you have this cart? if so you need to link the cartridge used in the design to the gypsy.

connect this cable to your gypsy
link cable

attach the cartridge to the bottom of the cable
click the round silver button
click link cartridge
follow the on screen instructions

No, I purchased the "Cricut for Beginners" dvds. You are supposed to be able to cut the images from the gypsy file they have included on their program. I am beginning to wonder if it was worthing purchasing and at this point I am wondering if the gypsy is worth it. I also got the "Design Studio" which now I understand I don't really need with the gypsy. I'm one of those people you can sell anything too. I think I have too much stuff and don't really know how to use any of it. I was hoping someone on here had waded through the Cricut for Beginners dvds.
Thanks for trying to help though. I have about 13 cartridges and could probably learn better from You tube:)

unfortantely I don't have that video, however, the way DS and the Gypsy work is you still need to have the cartridge used in the design. So if you don't have the cartridge used in that lesson you will not be able to cut the gypsy or cut file

Here is what their site says:

Q: How do I find the additional projects, Design Studio and Gypsy files?

A: PC Users: Insert either CFB Disc 1 or CFB Disc 2 into your computer’s disc drive. Next, click Start, My Computer, and then right-click on your computer’s disc drive and select “Open”. This will open the CFB DVD’s folder. Double-click “Cricut for Beginners Projects” and here you will find the folder for each project on that DVD. Each folder contains a picture, cheat sheet, .cut file, and .gypsy file.

Am I misreading it or does it lead you to think you can get those files and use them?

Thanks!

no you're not misreading it they just aren't fully providing you with the information to use the additional projects

The only way you would be able to cut that file out is if it was made using the Gypsy Wanderings and/or Gypsy Font cartridge/s. (Or one of the 5 or 6 free carts that were available for download if you registered your Gyspy before 28/2/11).

Does the video say what carts were used in that design?

I just looked at the video (and I may be seeing it wrong), but I think it is just a 'how-to' video. It lists the carts that are used in the DVD & when it says 'cheat-sheets' for the projects I think it just means instructions - like you would see on a blog on how to make a certain card, layout etc. So, I think you would still have to have the cart to cut out anything. Best bet may be to contact the vendor where you bought the DVD for clarification.Smile

you are correct however, it also says that there are bonus projects included in the form of .gypsy and .cut files

Thank you so much you guys! I did contact the vendor and you do need to have the cartridges. I guess the problem I have with that (not that it matters) is that the dvd is for "Cricut for Beginners" Can you tell me if it doesn't tell you in the ad you must have the cartridges, how would a beginner know that information? I realize I am a sucker for things, but... some things we learn the hard way. I'll just ask you guys before I invest in anything else.
I also didn't realize I didn't need "Design Studio" if I bought the Gypsy, but again did I say I'd buy anything? You guys have a great evening!

Hi Joan

Are you using Design Studio? Or a Gypsy? Or using the Cricut alone?
