Okay, I got tired of looking at my overlay and squinting to see which one to push. I went through my book and at the top of the left corner of each page I wrote which line that button was on and the placement. (for example 1-1 and on the next image 1-2 through all 50 images)

Then on my cricut I drew on the numbers 1-5 on the left and 1-10 across the top at the corresponding spot.

It works AWESOME!!!!

I know the brand new books have something similar in the "image" of button placement, but I have a ton of old ones.

Maybe Cricut should come pre-printed with these on the plastic around the area where the overlays go...just my suggestion

great idea Christine. I have my books numbered like that but never thought about putting the reference #'s on the machine. I will do that. TFS

thanks :) I got a PM and decided to make up a few images to help in case anyone wasn't sure what I meant...so I am copying that message here LOL

I will have to take some pics tonight when I get home. But on the pages of the book when you turn them the first image that you can cut is on the top row of 5 on the plastic overlay. The second one is on the second on in to the right but still on the top row. There are 10 images per layout width wise...so I write on the pages to tell which spot on the pad they would be.

I had lasik but my vision is bad because of dry eyes so at night when I am trying to squint and cut its difficult to look at the tiny images on the overlay and figure out which one is exactly where. This helped me so that I can just go to it and not have to search so hard. BigGrin

What a great idea! I too have trouble finding which button to push.
What I wish they would do is change the colour of the font in the book.
The white font under each character is just impossible to read.
Thanks for sharing your cool idea. Smile

I used to do the same thing then I discovered yet an easier way. Just number each icon 1-50, 1-10 on first row, 11-20 on second and so on. So much easier, then I just number the pages in the book to correspond I love it!BigGrin

Thank you so much. I get confused alot when the pictures are very similar in shape, and sometimes I end up cutting the wrong image. I am going to try this out! Thanks so much!!

I do the same thing. It makes it so much easier to figure out which key to press. As soon as I get a new cartridge I number the overlay and the workbook ... also, I tear out all the pages in foreign language. Makes it so much easier to turn the pages!

I did the exact same thing about 3 weeks ago with all of my handbooks and now I can easily find what I want. I didn't think about tearing out the pages with the foreign language -- bet it would be much easier to turn pages after that.

This is the system that I use also . . . I have started to catalog things on my website with this system also.

I tear out the foreign pages too...helps turn the pages in the books. Its frustrating how many stick together though from the ink not dry when the book was put together up in the binder area.

Thanks for sharing your super ideas ladies! I've had my Expression about a year now and I'm always looking for ideas to make my learning easier. (Wish I had read this a few nights ago when I was trying to see which key to press to get the cut I wanted!) I giggled to myself when I read that others were tearing out the foreign language pages too. I agree that it's frustrating when the pages tear because they're stuck together from the ink not being dry.

Thanks for the ideas about numbering the books and overlays. Here is another suggestion for the books that stick together - the first ime you go through the book, go from back to front. For some reason they come apart better this way and don't tear as much. Usually works for me!

Ladies, these are great ideas! It IS frustrating to try to figure out the position every time, especially if you're working on several things at a time. TFS! BigGrin

I too have done this. But I did A-J across the top and 1-5 down did this on the books aswell so the 1st page was A1 etc. I saw this and thought it would make it so easy. And I was hoping that PC was going to do the same on there new overlays but its only in the book not on the overlays so I have been told.
Its would be so simple to do.But they spend there time bring out new machines that are only going to be out for one year!!! We shall see.

Very good ideas ladies! Also great timing for me, I am thinking about repainting my scrap room. So i can reorganize while I am at it & these little gems are as good a reason as any other to start looking at paint colors. You all are really good at this enabling stuff! LOL!
