The best setting for vinyl is
Blade Depth 6
Speed 3

If you are doing that correctly then maybe you need a new blade. When anything starts tearing then I always need to change the blade.

not to ask a stupid question you are leaving the backing on when you cut it right?

Try a new blade, for sure. It does happen more frequently with the smaller letters, you often don't get as clean a cut. You could also try the deep cut blade, just because you'll have more clearance and possibly the cutting implement won't drag on the vinyl.

You can flip the vinyl over and cut backwards through the backing to the vinyl. It makes it tricker to get off, but helps with the drag, since the backing is so slippery.

One idea for sure is to make the speed slow for sure, this goes for intricate cuts too of any size.

I normally cut my vinyl with everything set at 3. I always have and it worked perfectly. Well yesterday I put in a new blade and when I usedthose setting the blade went all the way thru the backing so I had to change the blade to 2 and it still went thru a little. I thought that was kinda strange to have to change my settings as the blade was new at one time when I did use the 3-3-3 settings. This is with the expression.

I cut on 3, 3, 3. Try adjusting your speed lower. or check your blade. Sometimes there may be just a bit of something on it. Good Luck

When cutting vinyl, I change to the deep cut blade housing, set the pressure on 4 and the speed on the 3rd bar. It does a "kiss" cut not all the way through and is easy to remove (saw it done on You tube that way when Cricut was doing a demo at the show. I use blue painters tape to transfer. Works great!
