The Futura is an awesome sewing/embroidery combination machine. It's incredibly inexpensive because it has no built-in computer. In order to "speak" to the embroidery machine, the user must connect their own computer. With AutoPunch software (which you should always buy bundled with the machine -HSN is a great place -- you know the deal!), Futura can stitch out .jpg and .bmp files with no need to purchase the proprietary cards that many machines require.
Literally, you can hand draw, paint or scan in any image and save it to one of those formats. Once saved on your computer, hook your computer to the Futura and the the machine will beautifully stitch in the thread colors that you select into the areas you have identified. I can't draw - but I can create all KINDS of things on my Cricut -- especially with the aid of my Gypsy. I create them on the cricut, scan and save as .jpg -- then load the thread! BINGO! OhMyGod OhMyGod If PC is paying attention, they should partner with Singer on this one. I'm amazed at how low-profile this machine seems to be. Where many machines cost in the thousands of dollars, the Futura with a ton of software and accessories can be had for under $800!! Oh -- and you don't need to know how to sew - -AT ALL!! The machine does it all.
Do you have one? Have you used it in combination with your cricut? in general? Show us some of your designs here!

Another sewer, YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a Babylock Ellago and Masterwork software. No gypsie yet, but I am reading that the prices are comming down, so maybe soon. I do not have alot of cartridges (11) but have been able to do so much with design studio that I am happy. Now, all I need is a few more hours in each day. It is just awesome blending the two crafts. Would this principle work with a Brothers semi pro embroidery machine? It's software is called design studio with 5 other programs for editing and redesigning.

I soooooo want this machine. Too bad I can't afford it right now. Maybe I can sell some crafts soon and raise some funds to get this machine.

I'm glad I'm not alone with this! BigGrin I hope the new Imagine machine will make this even easier. I just got my Imagine today and set it up next to my Futura. Hopefully I can post some results soon! Thanks!

If I'm really good today, I'll be getting enough housework done so that I can PLAY with my Cricut Futie combo today. I'll start perusing the manuals ... see? didn't I just mention housework? Yet I've tempted myself into perusing manuals!
[sigh]
it's a sad sad crafty world in my home. LOL

THAT's OKAY THOUGH!!
LOL
I'll post what comes out of it tonight this weekend.
