I recently converted my guest room into a craft room and will be using a windows 8.1 laptop. I have Design Studio loaded onto my desktop in my kitchen (former scrapbook spot). Since Desgn Studio will not be updated I would rather not try to load onto my new laptop so decided to try the Craft Room.

I have a couple of layout in Design Studio that I would like to access. Can they be imported into Craft Room?

Yes you can. You'll just need to do a Save As and save it as a Gypsy file first.

Save that file to your computer, close DS and open CCR.

Once you're logged in click on the My Projects button on the toolbar, then select Import.

Some of us could not load a DS file that was converted to a gypsy file on Windows 7/8. The way it was solved was to take the original DS file and open it in Design Studio on a computer that was windows xp, and save it as a gypsy file on a usb stick and then import it into CCR on the computer with Windows 7/8 If it won't load in CCR, try that.

My desktop just happens not to be windows 8. I do not even think it is windows 7 but older. The computer is 6 years old. I saved the designer layout as a gypsy cut file but when I import into craft room the shapes have shifted on the mat. Hopefully it does not change the size...

I waned to file for a friend and will be trying to cut out soon. The file I am using was one I downloaded from the old message boards to cut out the 50 states to make a map. The 5th grade here needs to know all 50 states, the capitals, abbreviations and where on the map. Creating a puzzle with our Cricuts is a great way for the kids to have fun learning all these facts.
