Hello all! We are aware that some of you who have updated your computers to Windows 8.1 and Mac 10.9 are experiencing issues using Cricut Craft Room and Cricut Sync. We just wanted to let you know that we have team currently working on a solution.

If you are prompted to do a firmware update through Cricut Craft Room, we advise you to not update. The update will fail.

We are also asking that you take a little bit of time to Private message me the following information:
• OS Used (MAC 10.9 or Windows 8.1)
• Customer Name/Email/Phone number (if the email address is included, I will email updates to the customer)
• Machine being used
• Machine firmware
• Description of issue (what are they using? Sync, CCR, .com? etc)
• Antivirus

If you provide us with this valuable information we can update you through email on any resolution.

Thank you- Cricut Gena

And how are we supposed to cut through CCR if we don't update? Right now, I've got a $200 paperweight.

How do I private message you. I am EXTREMELY UPSET THAT this ISSUE hasn't been resolved after 3 weeks and knowledge of the windows update available for at least 9 months so the IT staff should have the update for Cricut craft room in place. What are you going to do for ALL OF US THAT HAVE NO RUNNING CRICUT DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO CONNECT TO THE CRAFT ROOM?? All we see are these great notes about what you have going on and new projects BUT NOT a Thing being said about what is happening. The Support Team just gives you a "we will let you know when we do" Something needs to be done. WE all have a lot of money tied up in this and are not able to use our machines. Please let us know one way or the other.

Windows 8.1
njbowen@frontier.com
Cricut Mini
? firmware unsure
Using nothing for the last 3 weeks...believe was using CCR
Antivirus has been checked so many times and it has nothing to do with it. (frontier)

Please Let ME Know

Yeah this issue is starting to become very frustrating. I'm almost thinking about having my husband revert my computer to Windows 8.0 because it seems that would be faster than waiting on the Cricut team to figure it out.

Any updates yet???

I am getting really upset because I purchased the Christmas rental package and should have a few weeks left on it. I have now lost a month of the three months time because of no fault of my own. I contact customer service via email, but they emailed back 4 days later and said I had to call in (something not very convenient for me to do.) So, I have very few Christmas cards finished and no way to do more and my rental time is up at the end of this month and I won't even get what I paid for. Ugh! Mad

So very upset with the PC tech or LACK of TECH. I know I am not alone with this problem and I have spent TONS of money on digital cartridges to use in the CCR only to find that PC does not keep up with the latest technology for this program.

What a shame, I feel like I am in a box without a lid. I would go buy a Cameo because I need to keep making my cards and projects but I am NOT.

I am going to keep trying to stay on PC about this problem. I hope all of you who are experiencing the same will do it also.

WE are the customers, PC needs to keep us happy.

Just my thoughts,
Judy

I saw that you have a way to fix the problem for sync and ccr with Windows 8.1.

We have an Expression 2 machine. It will not sync to update the firmware, and the Expression is not recognized by the CCR when we try to cut.

The information you asked for is the following:
Expression 2 firmware version is 1.01 (0079:0036:1000)
We are using Windows 8.1
Our antivirus is Kaspersky which is allowing CCR and Sync to function. We had this antivirus before switching to Windows 8.1.

I have called the customer service line twice. The 2nd time I was told that they were having issues with the updates with MAC OS updates. I asked what solution they had. I was told to use a different computer if I had one. Fortunately, I do. When I told her that I had a PC laptop I can use she stated that it can't be running Windows 8.1, I will have the same problem.

This is SO frustrating!! Cricut time and time ago shows just how unfriendly they are with other applications! When I asked for a time frame for the repair, it was suggested I look online at blogs and posts to see if a user had found a solution. I sincerely hope that they are not waiting for their users to find a solution for them! But since this has been going on for over a month, it seems like maybe they are.

Their lack of solution also show just how little the care about their consumer! They know we have $$$ invested in our systems and the chances of us going somewhere else is slim. This could be a marketers dream for Silhoutte or Pazzles, they should offer a rebate or trade in our Cricut machines. How many would trade? A plus would be you also get to use Make the Cut and other 3rd party die cut software.

Hoping Cricut shows some good faith and gets this correctly quickly!

I want my money back for every digital cartridge I have bought from Cricut.com if they do not get this Windows 8.1 issue solved by next Monday.

This is just ridiculous for a company to take our money and then not be able for us to use what we have purchased.

IF they are going to offer CCR, then PC should offer it totally fixed and ready to go.

If not fixed by Monday, I will be calling the company and I will not speak to a service rep, I will go to the top.

Just my thoughts, come on folks, join me with this.

Hello to Cricut Gena. Can you post an update on this issue? I have a ton a craft projects planned for the holidays - many of them gifts - and I need to know if I should start shopping instead. It would ease of lot of frustration if someone would just communicate with us.

Thank you for your time.

I do not know who CRICUT GENA is or if that is even a real person.

I do know that I have sent several PM's to her and have not had any response from Cricut Gena.

Is this a real person or just a prop from PC to try and make us happy.

NOT WORKING

Would be nice to have a response about how much longer we have to wait for this to be fixed.

Has anyone that has updated to Windows 8.1 tried running CCR & Cricut Sync in Windows 7 compatibility mode?

I did and I had no success with either. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling...but to no avail. What worked for me was going back and setting my computer to factory settings. While this worked for me it is not something I would suggest everyone do. My computer was fairly new and didn't have much on it, so it was worth going back. My suggestion would be not to upgrade to 8.1 until PC gets their act in order and has everything up and running with 8.1.

Wow, I am really dumbfounded that such a lapse in time has passed since the issue of incompatibility with windows 8 and there is no firm solution offered by Provocraft.

I upgraded from an Expression to the E2 during Black Friday shopping last year. I've been using it since then but am just now getting hooked up to cricut craftroom and updating my E2. I was very unhappy last night when I found out I couldn't get my cricut hooked up to my 2 month old Dell All-in-one touchscreen with windows 8.0.

Additionally, I'm a bit frustrated that I can't find any info on the type of wifi adapter I need to use the E2 wirelessly. any advice?

thanks, Jennifer

Well wish me luck tonight everyone.

I am going to call and DEMAND a refund for all the digital cartridges I have bought to use with the CCR. If they cannot fix this, then they need to make us, the customers happy and refund our monies spent on digital cartridges, or possible send the physical cartridges to each of us.

I am totally frustrated. But will see what happens when I call tonight. I wish some of you would join me. If they see a long list of us, MAYBE?????, they might work a little harder on the fix????
Who knows

Thx

Well I got my call in to CCR Cricut this afternoon. NO News, will not refund money that I have spent for 51 digital cartridges (about $1250 since ccr was introduced) and they cannot tell me or us how much longer it will be for this process to be fixed.

You folks will be proud of me, I tried and tried to be kind and nice. The lady told me to uninstall 8.1,,,not acceptable. She also told me to use a Gypsy, not acceptable, my eyes are too old. I tried a Gypsy, but could not do it. CCR is great for me because I have a 23 inch monitor with my computer.

I suggested that if PC is not going to be up with technology, the next new Windows or Mac that comes out, PC should alert customers not to upload it if they want to use the CCR. SAD SAD

She said the CCR is a free program, well it is BUT, we BUY the product to use with it, so it is not free.

Sure hope they get on this, I think she knew I was terribly upset and that there are many others like me.

So I haven't used CCR in a LONG time because I've made the switch to SCAL2. I need to cut some states out and I paid for the 50 states cartridge.

In hindsight, that was a waste of money. . .

so, if you're interested in SCAL2, which does work on windows 8.1 I just reached out to my contact to see if it's still available. When I bought it, it was cheaper than a regular priced cartridge.

My e-mail address is lauraebeth@gmail.com

Good Luck!

Can you even ball park as to when this issue is going to be resolved, seriously either your IT staff are completely incompetent or you do not feel this is a priority and have not placed the appropriate resources to fix the issue. I called approximately a month ago about this issue. I was promised resolution would be forth coming. This is ridiculous.

Seems kinda strange when a 69 year old/young grammie stays on top of the latest technology and computer programs and PC DOES NOT!

What is the matter with this company? I am getting so frustrated. It has been a MONTH since they said "we are working on it". DUHHHHHHH Hard to believe that they are really trying to solve this. Remember the "Gypsy Link" debockle?

This is beginning to smell like that also.

I have spent too much money on digital cartridges (over $1200 since CCR opened) , this is ridiculous.

Hello everyone! We apologize for any inconvenience that you have been experiencing with the 8.1 operating system. We appreciate your patience as we resolve these issues. We have now released an update to the Cricut Craft Room program that should make the program compatible with the Windows 8.1 operating system. This fixes issues like:

-Getting Stuck on Initializing/Accessing Account when trying to log in.
-Not being able to complete Firmware updates.
-Loaded mat not being recognized/Checking Mat Status
-Issues linking Cricut cartridges to the Craft Room.

To complete this update process, you will need to visit http://www.cricut.com/home/usemini. You will then see a screen, please select the green bar that says 8.1 Update for PC. This will install the most current build of the Cricut Craft Room program (Build 185).

If you do not see the Windows 8.1 button, please clear cache and cookies or try another browser. If you still can’t see it, use the link below. This will go directly to the update.

I am running Windows 8.1 and using both a Cricut Expression and a Gypsy. I have not been able to sync Blushing either to digial packages I purchased last week to make christmas gifts. Wasted 2 afternoons trying to do this and trying to contact your company and not getting a human being. Even a recorded message would have been better telling us of the issues.

I would have ordered cartridges is I had known I was going to have this problem. Wasted time, wasted money. This is not the way to run a company!

Hi CricutGena,

You have an extra "." in the first link which is throwing a Page not found error.

Oh, and thanks for the update! Now I'll be able to update my PC to 8.1!! Cool

Here's the correct link if anyone else is stuck: http://www.cricut.com/home/usemini
