Lets pretend I'm "NEW" to PC products.
I need a cutting machine that WORKS with CCR.(size doesn't mattter and it has to have a slot for my original carts)
What would you recommend?????

Angry Since PC is pushing me to use CCR, I'm NOT going to risk messing up my machines that I have.I just want a machine THAT WORKS with CCR!!!
Razz All my carts are linked to my gypsy....at this time I am NOT going to risk my gypsy and link it to CCR...I will NOT buy digi either, they are not yours to keep and you can only use them IF/WHEN CCR is working....The new cutting machine and CCR will be a future backup and I won't "LINK" anything again!!!!!!!

The Mini. It works great with CCR (at least mine does) and it works with my Gypsy. It also cuts better than any of my other machines.

I would buy an E again in a heart beat. It works great with CCR & the trouble I had in the beginning was my anti-virus program NOT my cricut machine. :)

I love my expression.

Matter of fact my E cuts much much better once I started using it with CCR. That was a big plus in my book.

Either another Expression or a Mini. But you will have to update the firmware on the Expression.

An E2. Mine works well with CCR. It cuts faster, smoother, and more quietly when I can get into CCR. GG

If you didn't need 12x12, just basically cutting only, then the Mini would probably work just fine. I do not have a Mini because I don't see a need for it, as I have an E & E2 and I don't go anywhere to Scrapbook or make cards.

One thing that you might want to consider is by not linking your Gypsy Linked Cartridges to CCR and if your Gypsy dies, which they have been known to, then you would have to insert Cartridges for all of your cutting. I just consider linking my Gypsy Linked Cartridges to CCR as a back up for my Gypsy.

I am not a fan of CCR and have been very resistant but I won't cut without designing my layout first, thus I have to have a Gypsy, which I do or use CCR. I love my E2 but I have difficulty using the screen and it doesn't have all the features that the Gypsy or CCR has.

I would go with the original E again if I hadn't already got the E2 and the competition....using CCR or the Gypsy really makes all the bells and whistles on the E2 a huge case of overkill.....

The mini doesn't have a slot for cartridges does it?

I had used the personal (baby bug) cutter for years, just a few months ago I got the Expression (the pink one!) and I absolutely love it. I haven't ventured into the CCR but.... if the E2 can do it wirelessy that would be great not having to hook it up.

YES, the MINI uses cartridges (unless you want to LINK them).

The MINI will not work as a stand-alone machine, though. It works only with CCR and hooked up to the computer.

I LOVE my Expression (use it with Windows XP, 2GB RAM) and I LOVE my MINI (use it with Windows 7; 64-Bit, 8GB RAM).

However, I did feel my Expression was rendered useless as a stand-alone machine after one of the updates. I could never get anyone else to come on here and say they had that same problem. I did call PC on it; they didn't help me out with it and they denied that the update did that to my Expression. BUT, nevertheless, I have gone ahead and used it solely in CCR and it works flawlessly. I probably would have never used it manually, anyway, but I was very frustrated when that happened and PC wouldn't offer any explanations. Of course, the machine was way out of warranty by a couple of years when it happened, so I chose not to be all that upset anymore and use it in the best way I could use it....which isn't too shabby, at all.

I too have the pink Expression. She's starting to sound rather noisy when she cuts. I don't know what I'll do when she goes. Probably look for a second hand one. I am reluctant to spend the $600 (NZ Dollars) to get an E2. I hear it's not as reliable as the original.

I wont consider a Mini beacause I like owning and using cartridges without turning on my computer.

BigGrin all my machines are working and I am NOT touching CCR with them. thats why I want another machine.
all my carts are linked to the gypsy....and it'll stay that way I'll just have to keep inserting the carts....LOL I can't live without my gypsy and I am not taking a chance of the evil CCR killing itLaughespecially now that it can't be replacedBored

Cool I did a lot of reading(posts) and searching and youtubing and I guess I'll clean out(sell) some more of my crafts and get another original expression. I already have one and I love it!!! but it's going on 4 years and I don't know how much longer it'll last.
The mini is not a use alone machine, so when CCR is down I wouldn't be able to craft so thats out. I'm afraid the E2 screen would be too small for me to see...
Woot so Expression it is!!! THANKS EVRYONE for your inputThumpUpGREATLY APPRECIATED!!

That's funny, Cricaholic!

I bought a second Expression (afraid the one I bought in 2008 might "go" anyday now) this year when CRICUT had one for $170 (or, maybe I bought it off HSN....can't remember). It had Flower Shoppe and the other flower cartridge included (I've never opened them).

IT'S MY BACKUP. BUT, my first Expression just keeps going and going and going........I can't believe I have a backup just sitting in the box (I have tried it, initially, to make sure it worked). I mean, what a waste! LOL. AND, believe me, I can't just spend money sporadically...it took a lot of nerve for me to buy a backup and soul-searching to believe I really needed to spend my money in that way!
