Here is a new kind of SWAP for you !
Everyone loves Butterflies and Dragonflies Woot

So, I thought it would be fun to make altered art creations for our partners using papers and embellishments of Butterflies and Dragonflies. It is preferable that you utilize items that are cut with your Cricut machine and Cuttlebugs .

You will create 2 Original Art objects by creating and/or embellishing the following items , or those that your partner might list on their sign up post. (I have probably left out somethings)
You can also put something on a personal "wish list"

Wooden Box - not a tiny one...something you can use for jewelry, memorabilia, etc.
Picture Frame - at least an 8x10
Wooden Tray or set of small trays
Shadow Box at least 8x8 in size
Bird House - let's get one that is at least 8" high
Large Charger Plate
Wooden Plaque - *"x10" or larger
PHOTO-Album or SCRAPBOOK ( at least 8x8) with an awesome cover
Journal Book
Large Matchbox Album
Pin Cushion made from something wonderful
Wall hanging
Easel album - 8x8 or 12x12 with an awesome cover

Each person should post the 2 items that they would like to have made for them. Please make neat, clean professional art pieces...This is meant for experienced crafters.

If you have not participated recently in any of my swaps, please PM me with your MB name, Real name, addy, email addy ,and a phone number. I cannot add you to the list if I do not have this information.

PLEASE !! NO FLAKERS !!! I am so weary of people on this Board who take lovely items from their partners and do not reciprocate...it is so criminal ! ThumbDown

I will keep this registration open for a week, and then see how many participants we have.
I will give you a WHOLE 8 WEEKS to make your items and send them out.
The Mailing date will be 8 weeks from the day I post partners.

THANKS A BUNCH !!

Welcome Rebecca and Sherrie ! I am so happy to have such talented ladies swapping with us ! BigGrin

Just so you all know, I am okay with it if you use all types of embellishments on your items...it does not have to be all Cricut cuts, but if you can utilize some Cricut and/or CUttlebug techniques that would be awesome. Have you all seen the Art Nouveau cartridge ? There are some really unique butterfly and dragonfly cuts on there. But I like to encourage the use of your imagination and personal creativity for any of these items. I would like the items to be of moderate to large in size ( for example not a tiny 3x3 box ) I also think that making something out of a little shadow box or a small "cabinet" or shelf ,that is useful (like a key holder to hang up on the wall) is a great idea.
M's and J's has some nice items in the unfinished wood dept.and you can use a 50% off coupon to get something reasonably priced. Be sure to at least put a base coat of paint on your object before covering with papers. It lends to a more professionally finished product.

Okay...so I will be quiet now and wait for someone else to share some ideas and "tips" .Wink Wub

Woot What a great bunch of ladies we have going for this swap ! So happy to welcome CraftyOldBat to the list of this EXCLUSIVELY WONDERFUL group !! We shall be sure to note that she does NOT want a pincushion !! ha ha ....

I am in the middle of "altering" a wooden toilet paper holder for my office bathroom and I thought I would show you guys a "beginning work" photo of it. I am using Graphic 45 papers from the "Curtain Call" collection which has a lot of Parisian images to use. I will also be adding some Cricut cuts from French Manor. So - take a look.... I forgot to take a pic before I started painting, but this is pretty early in the project this morning.

So yesterday, I put in my password, and it goes no where. I am wondering why for years I had no problems posting, and now I never know if I will be getting on. This morning, first time worked like a charm. I can get into a swap, but then there is no guarantee, I will get into another one 10 minutes later. I can hardly wait for partners, to get started.

So glad to hear you enjoyed the trip to DC. I was born & raised around Baltimore so I got to go to DC lot when I was a kid. It was a great experience...I made sure that I took my son there several times when he was growing up too...So much to see and do and learn about.

I will keep this open until this weekend to see if anyone else wants a challenge !
I will ask you ladies now if you think that we should only do ONE altered item at a time...Is it too much to expect 2 large items ?

I will bow to the needs of the many !
Love LOL

Thanks, DC was awesome! I'm a huge history buff so it was an amazing experience to see so much of what I've learned and read about in books/movies. We were just so busy. Band director crammed so much to do in so little time each day that we were running from sunup to sundown each day. DH and I decided that we're going to do it as a family trip so that we can spend a lot more time and really get to see the things I'd love to see.

I love doing one or two projects at a time. I'm going to try to avoid the huge ones where it's going to be 3 or more. I love doing them so it's difficult to not want to challenge myself and do as many as I can. I'm also trying to build my business and doing projects for craft shows and so forth ...At the beginning of the year I made a deal with DH to only do one swap a week. Four per month. I was sure to clarify that I may be doing 2-3 projects in one swap at a time! Laugh Flapper LOL

He was starting to feel like I love my craft room more! LOL...

Hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday. IF you're in the line of storms, hope you stay safe, dry and warm. Happy crafting

~Rebecca

Okay - I KNOW that SUPER BOWL SUNDAY Is upon us...but that means we can craft while the guys are watching the game....right ???!!Woot ThumpUp

I am still holding out for a few more members who want to make and receive something awesome !
I found a couple of really great items to "revitalize" and I am anxious to start on them...Looking through my stash for all the DRAGONFLIES and BUTTERFLIES I can find...I have more than I thought...so I probably wont need to buy anything except for glues.

We shall start soon - I will probably end the enrollment SUnday.

Love Happy Crafting !

I always have 2 or 3 things going at a time; I find it more efficient. While one project is drying (paint, adhesive, stickles, etc;) I can be progressing on something else.

That's funny Sherrie ! We have soooo much in common ! Love BigGrin

The basics of this swap are to alter something that is made of wood and has a purpose to it, while exploring the world of Butterflies and Dragonflies ... If you wanted to alter a large tin container or something else, I would not mind either...as long as you clear it with your partner. Love

I am so glad our little family is growing !! BigGrin

Remember to check with your partner when they are assigned (soon !) and see if she wants Butterflies, Dragonflies or a combination...Also it is important to think of color schemes. Butterflies can be light and soft pastels, or dark rich colors...they can be whimsical designs for baby's room, or seriously swanky garden creatures ! Cool
