have you restarted your computer then plugged the E2 into your computer turned it on and let the drivers install? And then open cricut sync and update?

Yes, I have tried every possible solution that's been posted in these message boards, including adding the cricut programs to my allowed files in my anti-virus software, un-installing and re-installing the drivers, CCR, cricut sync, updating my Windows softare, updating Internet Explorer... I feel like I've tried everything under the sun and that the only problem must be the Cricut. My computer has never and won't recognize the E2 and can't seem to get the Gadget Serial V2.4 driver from anything.

I was having this same problem with my Windows 7 machine, and finally got my E2 up and running.

My computer wasn't recognizing the E2 - it labeled it Gadget Serial v2.4, and couldn't find the driver. CricutSync didn't think it was plugged in either. I tried downloading the drivers from Craft Room, but nothing would happen.

Fix:
Go to the Devices and Printers menu. Click the troubleshooting option for the Gadget device, and choose the option to browse for the driver. Select the Program Files(x86)/Cricut-Craft Room/Drivers folder.

This finally worked for me. I got a warning about installing the driver since the computer didn't recognize it as a Cricut, and I told it to continue installation. Once the driver was downloaded, everything seemed to be fine. CricutSync worked, and the Craft Room recognized my E2 as a cutting option.

I hope this fix works for others!

I'm pretty sure I tried this but I'll try it once again and see what happens! Is your E@ a version 1000 machine? Those are the ones having the real trouble connecting.

Well, ironically my fix is no longer working - my computer isn't recognizing it as an E2 anymore. My old laptop works, but not the new one. Both are running Windows 7 - maybe it's a 32 vs 64 issue?

I too am having the same issues! It is really frustrating!! I just spoke to customer support and she gave me a list of things to try (The machine is at home and I'm at work since they will be closed by the time i get home. Boo hoo hoo!) Though it sounds like it must be a firewall issue. Most of the ideas she had where things I already tried yesterday. The person i spoke to didn't seem to know much about the driver.

It is really very sad. Since you have an expensive machine at home and she does not know any more than the support.
I'm also an expression selbser at home (Germany, America bought, 1 year old)
Since October, I write with the support that they always say, I will update the Cricut. I do not know how many updates I've now made, not fnktioniert. For me, the only lights "ON" Buttonlk, everything else is dark.
Here in Germany I get no help at all .....
It is just to cry

greeting
Helga

I bought a Cricut Expression 2 - sending it back now and going to buy a Silhouette Cameo... I should have done my research! I have to have the ability to cut out my own custom designs that I create and the expression 2 does not have that capability that I can see anywhere. :(

I purchased my first cricut this past November, and I love it! I am also new to the scrapbooking/card/everything else you can do with a cricut community, and I am learning new things everyday. What I cannot grasp is why my Cricut Expression 2 is not recognized by my laptop so that I can use the CCR and all of it's benefits. It was working fine for a few months then it stopped. After researching for a solution to my problem, I have read blogs where many CE2 owners have had the same problem. If someone out there has a miracle solution, please let me in on it? In the meantime I will continue to make due with my CE2.

Thank you in advance to anyone with suggestions,
Yolanda

For those having a hard time finding the drivers for the Cricut Expressions 2, go to http://www.cricut.com/craftroom/default.html.

Hope this helps. Good Luck all.

Your link did not work and this is for those that cannot download the CCR driver to the E2? If not, please explain. :)

Windows 7 driver

Fix:
Go to the Devices and Printers menu.
Right Click on the Gadget device,
click properties
click hardware tab
select the device
click properties
click on driver tab
click update driver
click browse my computer for driver software
choose C:\Program Files (x86)\Cricut-Craft Room\Drivers\Expression2

Run CricutSync to update the firmware
This worked for me
