Although the release says the update is for build 1000 and everyone else, it appears that part of the update has not been released. We are still waiting for that part of the update to be released. Therefore, this update is more for the Mini and Gypsy but this release notes will apply to the E2 as soon as it has been released. The E2 can now work with CCR BUT not the G as it is still in the making!!

Gypsy® device firmware 0227 update – Available 02.09.12

This update includes the following:

Cutting to the Cricut Mini™ with the Gypsy® device:
• The Gypsy device must be updated to the 0227:0234 (0227 firmware and 0234 content) version through the Cricut® Sync program found at www.cricut.com/cricutsync
• The Cricut Mini firmware must be updated to Version .23 in order to communicate with the Gypsy device .
• If the Cricut Mini requires a firmware update, you will be prompted to visit Cricut Craft Room™ to perform this update when the Gypsy device is connected to the Cricut Mini machine. Simply follow the screen prompts to complete the update process in Cricut Craft Room.
*Note: Cricut Mini cannot be updated from Gypsy device.

Cricut Expression® 2 machines:
• This release supports all Cricut Expression 2 machines including those with the 1000 firmware version

Corrects the blue & black screen that some Gypsy® devices were experiencing:
• We strongly encourage ALL Gypsy device users to update their device to the newest version (0227:0234) through the Cricut® Sync program at www.cricut.com/cricutsync for best results.
• This update will prevent the black screen and blue light some Gypsy devices were experiencing; however, it does not repair them.
• If you have a Gypsy device displaying a black screen and blue light, please contact Cricut® support 1-877-727-4288 | Monday-Friday: 7am-6pm MST

Corrects Cricut® cartridge linking issues associated with the following cartridges:
• Pagoda
• Close to my Heart - Art Philosophy Cricut® Bundle
• Celebrate With Flourish
• Everyday Pop-Up Cards
• Cake Everyday Sampler

Gypsy Linking to Cricut Craft Room™ is coming soon!

Thanks so much Mercy. What does this update do? So far my E2 works with CCR and the Gypsy, do I need to update?
My build on the #2 is (0042:0017:0240) and is version 1.01

Yes! Especially if you have a Gypsy everyone should update so we hopefully will not get the black screen of death which makes our G inoperable. Also, since you have a Mini then in order to get your Mini to work with your G, then you need to update. I am about to try the update for my G! :)

Edited: Added the release notes and not just the link. :)

I updates my E2 Anniversary Edition and it said it was up to date (only got it approx 3 weeks ago and did my initial update then). Should it have said that it was already up to date? I'm updating my Gypsy now.

You just tried to update it and it said that it is updated? What is your firmware number of the E2 because the release notes says that it supports all of the E2s as it should bring all of us to the same firmware. I will try to check to be sure.

When you are trying to sync, what is on the screen? What is your processor in your MAC?

Before PC closes, call them as they close in 45 minutes and let us know the outcome.

Before you updated, do you know if you had the firmware 1000?

Sorry, I confused you with the previous poster.

When you are trying to sync, what is on the screen? What is your OS and what internet browser are you using?

I have the firmware 1000. I only really know this because when I called support a couple weeks ago they walked be through the steps to check. Then they basically told me about the update and to keep checking back for it.

I don't know if I even did the right thing. Basically, I went to cricut sync and followed the pc install steps. I hit run, it did it's thing, and then said "Your Circut device is not attached to the computer or not turned on. Plug it in and turn it on to continue using CricutSync."

I have Windows 7.

Hurry and call PC before they close and if you cannot get them then we will try to help you troubleshoot. If you do connect with them, let us know the outcome.

Did you do this? "To ensure the proper driver installation it is important to have the Cricut Expression® 2 machine turned on and connected to the PC via the USB cable BEFORE the CricutSync software is launched."

This is nice and all but how about the option to cut the E2 Anniversary Pre-loaded carts with my gypsy. It would be great if you went back and fixed the older items instead of starting new things and fixing things that were introduced after the E2 Anniversary.

UGHHH PC you are really turning me off your brand. I spent my afternoon looking at different machines. It irks me that I have invested so much in PC and I have four carts that are sitting there not being used.

Please check your firmware prior to updating and if you have the 1000 firmware, in this thread, please let us know if you were able to update the E2. Thanks!

Just got off the phone with support. They said the new release was for the Gypsy... not the E2. She said it should be early next week so check back then.

Thanks for trying to help.

Hmmm...that is not what the release notes says. Oh well, I guess it was supposed to happen but it did not and the release notes I guess was not corrected.

Cricut Expression® 2 machines:
• This release supports all Cricut Expression 2 machines including those with the 1000 firmware version

Yeah, I thought it was weird too. I hope that's the case though because otherwise there is a bigger issue with my machine which will not be fun to deal with. Hopefully things update smoothly next week.

Thanks again.

I emailed tech concerning this but we probably will not get an answer before Monday.
