CarolynDeline: you posted early! Thank you! I'm going to see if I can get to these tonight. I still have to finish sketch 3 from this past week's challenge. LOVE the sketches and LOVE your samples. That flower is so pretty and the birds are so cute... they remind me of Peeps. Thanks for the ad colors too.

Hi guys. Carolyn, your sketches are so pretty. I'm hoping I can do at least one.

Anyway, I have a favor to ask and I knew I could count on you all here. We are all very busy and have little time for crafting. However, there are so many newbies since Christmas. Seems everybody's husband bought them an Expression or personal cutter as gifts. I still stop by the newbie section because I like to encourage others because it's where I learned a lot in the beginning. So could you all please just stop by and give them some encouragement, even if only on their first project posts. It doesn't have to take long and you don't have to do it every day. While there you can also promote the cards forum. This is truly one of the most up-to-date and supported forums on the MB. I'm so afraid that they will give up all together if there's no encouragement for them to keep going.

I hope I said that clearly. If not, forgive me. If you can't, then you can't; but if you can find the time, please do.
Thanks - Sweetpea

Thanks for suggesting this. Since I'm new to the Expression but not the Cricut, I enjoyed reading some of the posts. I also posted to encourage the newer people not to feel discouraged.

Wow! I can't believe I let last week slip by without even a post on the threadAngry. I'll definitely do better this week! Carolyn, terrific sketches and your cards are amazing. The flower and swirl is elegant. I LOVE the bird card - the colors, the stripes, the flourish, it's just perfect. It will be difficult not to totally scraplift.

Thanks for this! I never even knew there was a "newbie" section in the forum. I no longer venture outside of our sketch challenge thread and Consider a Challenge section. I barely have time to craft these days with the 2-year old tugging at my shirt. I will definitely stop by and check out the newbie section.

here is sketch #1 It started out being all together different than what It looks like now. I'm not sure I like it. Thinking way to much on front.

here is sketch#2 the flower is cut from G I inked the white flower. The flourish is from Sweetheart cart I like this one better even tho I think my base card should have been a different color.

Sweetpea;

Thanks for the suggestion for all our fellow crafters in this forum that have more experience.
I am a newbie myself and always looking all over this MB for ideas, inspiration, and tutorials.
I think the challenges is a great idea!
However, as a newbie, I am not sure how the sketches work.
Where do I go to download them?
Do I have to work the challenges through Design Studio?

To all:

All of your cards are so professional looking!
I just love them and is really a fun part of my day looking and getting inspired
by everyone's creations.

Thanks! LOL

Karen...surely hope you get some time to work on the cards...welcome back!!!

Sue...wow, totally love the thank you card...the yellow is so pretty on the white, nice touch with the little bow

VickieBryan...awwwwww.....love the happily forever card...so cute with the birdies...love how they are "kissing"...the valentine card is so pretty with the layered flower and love the swirls...

Juneill's Parties...welcome welcome...so good to have you...you don't have to download the sketches, most of us just print them out, and work from that. You don't have to use DS but you most certainly can...there are really no rules associated with the challenge...each week new sketches are posted, just be inspired by them and post your creations in the thread...jump right in and join in the fun

KarenT, I sure hope to see a card from you soon! BigGrin

Suevan, I LOVE the paper you used on your sketch from last week! That card is so pretty! I also love how you did the center of the octagon! Your sketch 3 is really wonderful as well! I love the doily look, and the simplicity of the card! I never seem to pull off one of those! I always feel like it needs more when I try to make one, lol!

VickieBryan, I love the swirls that you put on both of your cards! Those little birdies kissing are just too cute! I think the color you chose on your sketch 2 card is pretty the way it is, but if you aren't happy with the colored paper you chose you can always ink the edge around the card if you want to give it a different look!

Juneill's Parties, for me, I draw the sketches and then take the pad into my craft room and start working! If I have the computer turned on and look at the sketches while I am making a card, I tend to want to do exactly what is on the each sketch! Like for an example, the card with the 3 birds! You can replace them and put 3 flowers, etc in it's place! There are no set rules, these sketches are more like guidelines to help give us an idea for a card! It is so much easier sometimes to work with a sketch than to try and come up with a card on our own! I have the DS and hardly use it, so you don't have to use it either! Just have fun, and hope to see your cards real soon! BigGrin

Sandy- Love your 1st card. Pretty papers, love the 6 hearts on the front! Im sure they are stamped huh? So pretty!

VickyBryan1- Great #1, love the birds, great grouping them like you did! Love the swirls and everything on your 2nd card. Background paper is just fine! Nice color combo on both cards!

Juneill's Parties- Welcome!!! Please join in!! You make the rules..if you stick around you will find that some of us are rule breakers...hahahha really, just use the sketch as an inspiration! You can turn them upside down if you want...I do frequently! Hope to see you soon!
