I do not know what happened!! Just played with my new imagine that I got for Christmas. I started to smell something burning. I went downstairs thinking one of the kids was cooking. Nothing going on downstairs, so I went back to my room. About three mins later smoke and fire. Thank god I was upstairs. I am not sure what happened, anyone had this problem? I am so shaken right now, and my hubby is not home!!!

Make sure you don't have an electrical fire in the walls! Put your hand on the walls to make sure the temp is not indicative of a fire.

Yikes!

Okay, I just got told it was not a fire, just a melting of the cord. How could I go about getting another cord. I was told it was a short in it.

I'm glad everyone is ok. But I think you should call PC and let them know what just happened...

I just saw the other posts!! I wish I had seen that earlier. My neighbor came and checked the wall and everything is okay. Can I use the cord from my expression? Can I order another cord? I would hate to not be able to use the machine, but I was told not to use the cord again

I am glad you are alright and your home is safe. A fire in our scrap space would be a disaster. Be safe,

Wow this is scary. Okay first you can not use the Expression cord for your Imagine they are not the same. Yes PC will send you a new cord but I would be very leary keeping this machine. There is no way to tell if it was the machine or the cord. By the way I always unplug my Imagine after using it.

I don't know about others but I know I have had two faulty cords. The first one was when my Imagine was brand new. I did not experience problems such as those being report, my issue was just no power to the machine - thank goodness. But this is making me nervous with here more simlar stories.

After reading the above blog post, under the comments, I cannot believe how many people are on their 2nd or 3rd Imagines. That is ridiculous. You'd think PC would recall them and make new ones. Being a fire hazard would definitely scare me. Thank goodness I don't own one! Confused Glare

Okay so, I have been on this board since 2009, and never posted until now. How can I contact pc? I have sent three email about my cart that does not work. Is there a special way to contact them?

Here is the direct phone number, I found in the past that it gets answered quicker than the toll free number. I also had better luck calling right at the start of the day. Remember they are in Utah for time zone difference(possibly) than your location.

Glad you noticed the smell quickly and figured it out. Unfortunately, a known thing I've seen pop up with about 4 people now (in the over a year of that machine being out now). Call PC. I'd question them on whether the machine is still ok or not also. They've always been really good in my experience and knowledge of taking care of things in regards to the Imagine.
I would not use your Expression cord because 1. offhand I can't remember if it's the same voltage and 2. in case something is wrong with the machine itself, you don't want to risk that cord too.

Hugs!

Yes,you must let PC know about this. Please don't use your machine until you have spoken to them. There could be something wrong with the machine, rather than the cord. Please post what happens!

Wow, I'm glad you caught this in time before something really bad happened.

Thank You for posting about it because up until now I never knew it was a problem.

I don't leave my Imagine plugged in when I'm not using it. I bought my machine at launch.

I'm curious if this is a new problem or one I missed hearing about?

Wow, this is about the scariest post I have ever read. So very happy to hear that you and your family are safe and there wasn't a fire. Yes, do call PC, and like another poster said, do not use your machine until they tell you it is ok.
I am now going to be unplugging mine when not in use.
Just curious, was yours going directly to outlet, or through a surge protector. I have all mine in a protector and usually just turn that off, but like I said I think I will now unplug.
Please keep us updated as to what PC says.

I've always had mt I plugged. I'm going to keep it unplugged from now on.

I worry because I have to move it to unplug it and I read somewhere that it's bad to move it because of calibration.

Turning off the power strip sounds like a great idea.
